I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wanted to give this location a try. Many years ago, I had gone to their North Phoenix location and thought it was good. I am a good cook and rarely go to Mexican restaurants since we've got Mexican food at home. However, I didn't feel like cooking that night.
I am SO HAPPY that I made that decision. As I pulled up to the handicapped parking spots with my mother, who is in a wheelchair, I immediately noticed it was right up front with an appropriate ramp.
We entered the restaurant, and all I can say is that the vibes were immaculate. We had such a lovely experience. It's been a while since I've received this level of service in a restaurant in the US. The staff greeted us immediately and led us to a table. They pulled out a chair to accommodate my mother's wheelchair. The menus were clean, well designed, and had items listed with descriptions in English and Spanish. There were plenty of large bright pictures with actual pictures of the food. The server was a very kind man who personally introduced himself to us. He answered questions about the good and gave suggestions. The other servers immediately brought us chips and salsa. They took our drink orders, and in just a few minutes, we had our beverages and were happily eating the delicious chips and salsa while looking over the menu. I ordered La Princesa Torta with steak, my husband ordered a quesadilla with chicken tinga, and my ordered fish tacos. Everything was DELICIOUS and carefully plated with care. The servers came by and chatted with my mom for a bit. They were so kind and engaged with us ensuring we were enjoying the food. I am really looking forward...
Read moreThe food is great. I’ve been a customer for nearly 1 1/2 - 2 years now, my delivery history from Uber Eats/Postmates is 90% from here. There have been MANY hiccups but I remained loyal. Today I received beef in my torta instead of chicken, which I cannot eat due to my religion. After many mediocre customer service experiences and being forced to drive down to the store at the expense of time and gas nearly 10-15 times over the years including this one, I asked them if they were willing to help me out and make it worth my while to continue having lunch and dinner with them.
The care for customers and the care for details is next to none. Upon my explanation of loyalty thru many mishaps and frustration, the lady at the front acted as if remaking my torta and swapping it out for me was already a courtesy… as if I would pay ever for a blunder on their part.. even after explaining that remaking my food for free is a given in this situation and that I’m looking for further compensation she still simply didn’t care. It really sucks as I LOVE the food when it is correct to my order, but I told her I simply won’t support them anymore if they can’t value me enough as an avid supporter.
Pro tip, go to Tortas el Chavo. Little hole in the wall, with much more authentic, higher quality tortas and cheaper in price as well. Extremely sad that Los Reyes can’t maintain me...
Read moreNaahhh... just FYI their drinks are NON-ALCOHOLIC. Just thought I should throw that out there. But they were good though, different.
So My first time coming here, I wasn't too impressed. They call it "Los Reyes de la Torta" (Kings of Torta) so I expected to be wowed. Honestly, I wasn't. I've had better elsewhere. I feel like the meat on the torta needed more flavor I don't know. I tried the "El Rey" torta. They have a salsa that is supposed to be "really hot" salsa... I had to order a second bowl because it wasn't that spicy, but that's just me. I was hoping it would at least leave me with an impression to come back and try something else. But I'll pass. Like I said, the drinks were still good though, just different. I'll still give them 4 stars because the service was good, good presentation & the food came out pretty fast. They have a 4.4 rating so obviously people like it. To each his own right? This is just my honest review. In conclusion, try it out if you'd like. See how your experience will be, you might like it , you might not. But I don't think they are "Los Reyes...
