We came here because of all the amazing reviews, so we were honestly excited. Unfortunately, our experience was really disappointing from the moment we sat down.
We placed our order at 8:20 pm, including a cold appetizer for our kids. By 9:00 pm, nothing had come out. I politely asked if we could at least get the appetizer so the kids could start eating. This wasn’t a complaint — just a simple, reasonable request. What made it worse was that we saw other tables who ordered after us getting their full meals, while we still had nothing on the table.
When the food finally arrived (9:07 pm), some of the meat was burnt, dry, and basically inedible. My wife went up to the counter to quietly show them, and instead of listening, the owner said:
“You’ve been complaining since you came in! What do you want now!?”
That response honestly shocked us. It wasn’t true — we hadn’t complained at all before that. When she pointed to the burnt food, his reply was:
“This is how we make it!”
They did eventually remake the burnt pieces, and the food itself tasted good after that. But what stood out most wasn’t the food — it was the tone and attitude, as if they were annoyed. The staff never once apologized for the delay or the burnt food. No one checked in with us at any point to see how things were going. Meanwhile, we watched other tables being greeted warmly, checked on multiple times, and treated with real hospitality. The difference in treatment was noticeable, and honestly, it didn’t feel good.
I understand that restaurants can have off nights. But what matters is how issues are handled, and here, the response felt defensive, dismissive, and lacking in basic courtesy. What could’ve been a great night ended up feeling like we weren’t valued customers at all.
The food has potential, but hospitality is about more than that. We left feeling disappointed — and frankly, a bit alienated. I truly hope the management takes feedback like this seriously, because the contrast in how we were treated compared to others was...
Read moreI would have loved to give Shish & Slices five stars, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
For one, eating off wood plates is highly unsanitary. They aren’t dishwasher safe, and they’re porous, which means they can stain and harbor bacteria. There’s a reason why established restaurants don’t use wood plates, cups, and utensils.
Second, while the food looks absolutely stunning, I could hardly taste anything other than the cardamom rice. The beef shawarma had zero flavor, which was a huge letdown. I did thoroughly enjoy the hummus; it was light and fresh and I wish there had been less beef and more hummus!
For $15 it was a lot of food. But the quality and flavor wasn’t $15 worth. Apparently they have pizza coming to the menu soon. Seems like an odd combination, but we’ll see how it plays out.
Finally, the service was excellent. Very kind folks. Pretty sure the owner came over to ask me how I enjoyed the lentil soup. It’s a nice, personal touch that goes a long way. Because of that, I’ll go...
Read moreThe BEST food. I’ve tried some of the top Mediterranean food in the valley and this was THE BEST. I got the beef shawarma plate. The beef was tender and tasty. The hummus was excellent with amazing flavor. The salad was big and lots of flavor! The rice was actually very flavorful not bland at all. The pita bread was warm and soft!
It came with a very flavorful sauce, not sure if it was garlic or what but not a tzatziki. Was so good. LARGE portions.
Great service they brought the food to me over at the hookah lounge and let me come over and pay at the end. Super friendly and great service. When I came in the store they noticed me right away I didn’t have to wait and I paid. Very very affordable. Was 15$ before tax. You can’t beat that price in the valley for all that.
Highly recommend you try and see for yourself. They’re newly opened and yeah was a great experienced I wasn’t sure what to expect because some places have a few bland things but this food was packed with...
