On the ragged fringes of the Arizona State University campus, amidst the academic purgatory that separates the enlightened from the mundane, there exists a beacon of carnivorous indulgence and liquid ecstasy - The Hudson Eatery & Bar. This isn't just another pit stop in the educational desert; it's an oasis of excess in a land of scholarly drought.

As I swaggered through the doors of this hedonistic haven, situated just a stone's throw from the hallowed halls of academia, I was immediately struck by its whimsical spirit. The place was a beacon for the two-wheeled nomads of the road, with bike racks standing as iron-clad sentinels at the front, and a sign proudly declaring their love for bikers. It was a bold middle finger to the conventional, a sanctuary for those living on the edge.

Inside, the walls erupted in a psychedelic display of graffiti murals, each a testament to a world unchained by the mundane. Mystical creatures and fantastical realms adorned every corner, speaking of a place unbound by the laws of reality. It was like stepping into a dream, a vivid, surreal escape from the monotonous drumbeat of university life.

Let's talk about the Boom Boom Burger that doesn't just whisper seduction but screams it from the rooftops. We start with a bun - not just any bun, but a hearty, robust one that promises to stand up to the onslaught of flavors it's tasked to hold.

Then come the twin titans of beef, two smashed patties grilled to a perfect char, oozing with the kind of primal, meaty juiciness that makes your heart beat a little faster. Each patty is adorned with a layer of melted cheddar cheese – rich, creamy, and unapologetically.

Next up, the sautéed mushrooms. These are the kind of mushrooms that have been kissed by the pan just long enough to bring out a deep, earthy flavor, adding a layer of complexity that elevates the burger from great to mind-blowing.

Let's not forget the bacon. Thick-cut, because if you're going to do bacon, you do it right. It's smoky, it's salty, echoing through your soul with every chew.

The house sauce – it's the tie that binds, the secret handshake of this culinary club. It's tangy, slightly sweet, with a hint of mystery that keeps you guessing and, more importantly, keeps you coming back for more.

Beneath the robust assembly of flavors, a bed of lettuce and tomato, fresh and crisp. They're not just garnishes; they're the cool, crunchy counterpoint to the rich, savory symphony above.

This burger isn't just a meal; it's a journey. It's a bold statement in a world of mediocre sandwiches. It's the kind of burger that haunts your dreams, in the best possible way

The staff, with their uncanny ability to appear at just the right moment, were not mere employees; they were the silent orchestrators of a dining experience.

In essence, The Hudson Eatery & Bar is more than a bar on the outskirts of ASU. It's a haven for the wild-hearted, a retreat for those who seek refuge in the extraordinary, here you can seek the pleasures of food and drink. It's a place I'll return to, again and again, each visit indulging in edible and...

Are you looking for a great little tap room with excellent food? Look no further than The Hudson. It is located in a unit on the south east corner of Apache Blvd and Elm Street, convenient to both the light rail access and the general ASU campus region.

I visited this local Tempe bar & grill early this evening, just as the NCAA national championship game was coming on the big screen TVs they have set up around both the inside and outside patio seating areas. The seating area is relatively small and intimate having seating for about 30 or so at once.

The staff are super friendly and ready to explain both the drink and food menu selections. There is a great selection of both craft beers on tap and great unique sandwiches, appetizers and dishes. For an appetizer, we shared their dry rub wings which were large sized, juicy chicken wings with perfect seasoning served with ranch or blue cheese dipping sauces. Hot, juicy and savory goodness!

For my meal, I ordered the pastrami sandwich. This was an amazing sandwich of grilled buttered bread wrapping a delicious portion of pastrami meat, cheese, crunchy light cabbage coleslaw, and perfect light sauce. Seriously, it was like a mash up of a perfect grilled cheese with perfect pastrami sandwich. Wow!

We also had a couple orders of chips and salsa, and one of my sons had the Boom Boom Burger, both of which were excellent.

If you love tap rooms, and excellent grill food, you must try out The Hudson. We will...

I popped in a few weeks ago as an Uber Eats driver and made a note to come back and check this place out as a patron. I'm SO glad I did.

What originally pulled me in was the staff, who are down to earth and friendly people, and then their massive wall of liquor and fun decor is what had me write this place down as a 'Must Try.'

My boyfriend and I ordered their Bacon Boom Boom Burgers along with two Mules, which they happened to have holiday specialty flavors for. We shared a Peppermint Mule and a Gingerbread mule, and we basically died over the burgers because they were so good.

Have you ever had Five Guys? They wish they could be as well put together (literally) as these guys. It's like the flavor of Five Guys, but so much better, and the burger still has its integrity. Melt-in-your-mouth beef, layers of cheese, all on a delicious brioche bun. And don't get me started on the crunchy well seasoned French fries.

Will be...

So lucky to have stumbled upon this gem today! You can't miss this place, what with its very distinct design outside (and mist for the hot weather today). You are greeted with very unique interiors that somewhat felt like home (even the restrooms were fun and quirky!). The folks are very pleasant and helpful, which made the visit 100x better. We had the wings (mild rub), and the Boom Boom burger with mushrooms. Both were good, and serving size just right. For drinks, we had the Prickly Pom Cider and Pumpkin Porter. Both drinks were refreshing, and did not have that usual beer aftertaste. What stood out, though, was the Chonk Banana Split Beer. Yes, BEER. It is so good, you will probably plan to come back just to be able to order that drink again. All in all, it was a great first visit, and will definitely come back to try out their other stuff. Kudos to the Hudson Team!

I had the boom boom burger with a side of onion rings and omg it was absolutely delicious. Definitely on my top 5 list of best burgers I’ve ever had. Heck, it’s probably number one or two two. The onion rings are indescribable. It has such a nice crunch and flavor. And the onion doesn’t slip out when eating it. By far the best onion rings I ever had in my life. Even my boyfriend who hates thick onion rings was in love. He had the hot chicken sandwich with a side of fries and he was enthralled. Warning- they don’t mess around with their spice so order with caution. It wasn’t too spicy to eat, but probably would be for those who can’t handle spice. It is a bit on the pricier side (still not too terrible), but you get what you pay for. It was worth every penny and we will definitely be back. As many others have said, it truly is a hidden gem.
