Decided to update my 2010 review!
Mom and I enjoy pho very much, but she can't remember dining here all those many years ago, so I suggested we return. I made my requisite phone call and asked:
Do you serve egg noodles, and may I get these rather than rice noodles in my pho? Yes, and yes.
Do you offer both seafood and beef broths/stocks as pho options? He said they offer both chicken and beef and added that most places only serve beef.
Do you use MSG in pho items? Yes, as do "most places."
Mom ordered the "#1," which was a combo of meatball, steak, and tendon, though "not much 'laman'," meaning that the meat ingredients were sparse in her opinion. She really enjoyed the soup, though, and, it looked to me, a lot of rice noodles. Her request for an extra plate of bean sprouts, lime wedge, and mint leaves was met with a gracious smile and prompt execution!
I decided to skip pho due to the MSG involved and instead ordered the beef lo mein, and chose to add side plates of steamed rice, crab puff, one fried shrimp, and pork egg roll for $1.50. (Intention was to have mom give these to my aunt during her visit, but Mom just asked me to take leftovers home.) The beef lo mein was delicious, but I am almost positive that it contained MSG, as well. If I were to order this dish again, I would request extra veggies added, such as snap peas, or broccoli, because I can't eat the julienned carrots included-- I want more veggies!
Also ordered Vietnamesfe coffee. It's basically a shot (perhaps a very concentrated double-shot?) over condensed milk. Swish it around a bit and then pour over ice. $3.25 plus tax. Delicious, but may I suggest offering this beverage in two sizes, our perhaps serve the original size in a smaller glass? I had about two small sips before transferring the rest into a to-go glass (super-concentrated creamed coffee!) and well, you can imagine what my mom thought when she saw how little space the remaining liquid occupied... I plan on adding more ice when I drink the leftover coffee at home.
KH offers Styrofoam for takeout and leftover packaging. I try to avoid supporting...
Read moreUnlike most people that say they have tried a million places and they know what good PHO is, I eat PHO at least 3x6 times a week. There are few PHO places in the entire valley I haven't been to. I have my favorite spots of course but always open and willing to find more 2g2 spots.
Me and my family stopped in because the good reviews.
Fortunately eight when we got there my girlfriend needed to take our daughter to the restroom.
When she came back from the restroom she said there is no way in hell we are eating here. Well I also had to use the restroom.
First of off. If the place you are eattinf has a discussing bathroom, what makes u think anything else is clean or cared about by any means.
I don't understand how these places will have the absolute most discussing restroom and people are going to want to eat there.
The bathroom wasn't even the problem. U have to walk through the kitchen to use the one tiny discussing bathroom. I left my phone at home or I'd have pictures. They literally had 2 huge bowls of sliced beef on the floor! On the floor.. they also had all their broth in cambros on a table with no lids. Like that had mad the broth a previous day. It was just discussing. There were multiple Flys in and flying around the broth. I was absolutely sick. I will never be back and I highly recommend going somewhere 3lse where they care about cleanliness and the quality of their food. This place n3eds a rude awaking. Anyone could walk in there and suggest 2 3 simple things that are beyond obvious and it would prob be the place to be.
How do the owners and employees walk in to work and thi n that these conditions are OK. They all...
Read moreI’m in love! After hearing some chatter about Khải Hoàn I made my 40 minute drive to check them out. Word of mouth is important to any business and it was worth every minute. You’ll find them in such an unassuming parking lot. I nearly drove by it and if it wasnt for my map I might just have. The location is small, but the service big! I’ve never met a more friendly group. This family owned business really loves what they do and it shows in the quality and presentation of their food. We couldn’t decide on appetizers so we opted for both crab puffs and egg rolls. For our entree we chose Pho Tom Cua (#10) which is seafood rice noodle with both shrimp and crab meat as well as Pho Tai (#3) Rare Beef Pho. Everything came out fairly quick. Appetizer first. I loved how the egg rolls were presented with the fresh veggies and fish sauce to go with it all. Delicious! I’m not typically a fan of crab puffs, but my daughter wanted to try them so we ordered them. These were quite good. The pho portions were huge, good portions of protein and full of flavor. Additional toppings were fresh and plentiful and jalepeno pretty spicy. Everything you need is at the table from chopsticks, sauces, spoons and more. We were checked on multiple times, drinks refilled and nice conversation. You could tell there were a lot of regulars coming in and it was pretty busy with walk ins our entire meal. Great stop and we can’t wait of come back.,Come to Surprise we need...
