The owner was a very nice guy, welcomed me and was very inviting. He insisted that I write a review, so here I am. Ive been wanting to try this little cozy spot for some time now, as my wife and I adore Asian cuisine and are always excited to try new places. Seems like every time we wanted to try it out, they were closed. As of this post, I am still not aware of the hours of operation. At any rate, I was dining alone that evening. I sat with the menu for about 8-10 minutes before he came to take my order, which isn't necessarily negative, but i knew what i wanted 45 seconds after he handed me the menu. I ordered the combo V1 plate and a orange Sunkist, as it was much too warm for Pho and I read some unfavorable reviews regarding the Pho. I was literally the only one in the entire dining room and my food took about 20 minutes. 20 minutes is not too terrible considering the type of food here, especially since I ordered a combo, but it is a touch on the long side all things considered. Once my food arrived I noticed immediately that 3/4ths of the dish was made up of the noodles and veggies. 2 shrimp that were supposed to be grilled, but im fairly certain were boiled, about 5 or 6 small chunks of chicken and the shaved beef was about 60% fat and grissle, which was really disappointing because the meal as a whole was actually quite flavorful and pleasant. I finished my food and was never once...not even 1 single time was I checked on, after my meal. Another couple came in and im not sure about the sound distribution in the dining room but I could hear their entire conversation and it was a little uncomfortable for me as I couldn't really enjoy myself in peace The woman was loud, but they were on the other side of the room and it just felt a little like I was in someone's home dining room and not a restaurant.
I decided to stay an extra 10 minutes just to see if anyone would ever come and check on me...nope, didn't happen. I had to ask for the check and the bill was about $22.00, dinner for one which I also consider a tad on the high side for a café. The restaurant is cute, cozy, and clean. I may give it one more try with the wife, but im...
Read moreAs others have said, the ambiance was very pleasant. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. But beyond that, it was not good news. I ordered the chicken fried rice. The chicken was inedible. It was the consistency of bacon, I don't know how else to describe it. It was very thinly sliced, dried out, and very hard on the outside. Not crispy, just hard. The rice was okay but clearly had been cooked earlier and still had hard clumps and lumps of rice. It was also very salty. My friend ordered the vermicelli with chicken slices. Her chicken was also inedible. We shared an order of egg rolls which really consisted of essentially a barely warm pork sausage in a fried wrapper. It was very greasy and not good. The water was bottled, so refills were never offered. Even though we were the only people in the restaurant for lunch, the man who was serving the tables never checked on us to see if we wanted or needed anything or to ask if everything was okay. When we finished, we sat for about 20 minutes chatting and waiting for him to bring the check. When we finally asked for it, he said we could pay at the register. He was the person at the register. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and we...
Read moreWorst Pho in Temple! The noodles were so over cooked they would fall apart when I tried to pick them up with chopsticks. The spring rolls were ok. My wife's egg rolls weren't anything special either. I told the owner the noodles were severely overcooked and were just mushy, and he said I don't think so, they're cooked correctly. LOL... the owner telling me I was wrong was so wrong. I didn't even finish it. The broth was just ok, and they didn't have any beef tendon which is a deal breaker. We will definitely NOT visit, EVER again! Do not waste your time or money. We were the only ones eating there and their little boy was extra loud playing with his toys and throwing them on the floor over and over, and it was extremely loud! Then he came over and started growling at us...a $14 bowl of soup better be outstanding, I wouldn't even be willing to pay $.50 for another bowl of his soup! Go to Saigon Café, It's 100x better! Or, if you HAVE to have Pho, go to Killeen! Then, they list their credit card surcharge as a tip on the receipt! I did NOT leave a tip and I tip well, for good service and good food! Now we know why there wasn't...
