I was excited to try this highly anticipated spot close to home. The atmosphere was fun, the decor is lovely, and the food was delicious. Just a few sticking points that keep me from giving it 5 stars and are worth mentioning because I want it to stick around. And they can be easily rectified. Our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed, it was a steady Saturday night but, that’s the point. I can’t tell you her name because she never introduced herself. It took quite a while for someone to come to our table after being seated but finally she showed up and we were just glad. We placed our order and wanted to try several things. The jalapeño labneh was so fresh and delicious I would have licked the plate, but used the fluffy and warm za’atar pita instead. The wood fired shrimp scampi with a generous slice of garlic toast, yummo. The mussels with bacon broth, were so plump, and fresh and the bacon broth.. pass me a spoon!! But then came the prosciutto ‘chitarra’. Now I am Italian, and specifically from Abruzzo. The land of the chitarrra shaped pasta. Was looking forward to trying it with a lemon herbed butter as it’s typically prepared with a meat sauce… what I got was fettuccine . A very nice fettuccine all’uovo. But not chitarra. Now of course I ate it. It was light and prepared well, with tender slices of prosciutto on top. I didn’t want to send it back as it may have gotten thrown out and that’s just not right. But you can’t give a girl from Abruzzo fettuccine instead of Chitarra. If they ran out , which is probably what happened, then the right thing to do is at least let the guest know, same preparation but different cut. Instead of hoping I wouldn’t know the difference. After that we waited for our eggplant with burrata but our waitress then came and offered us dessert. The eggplant wasn’t rung in, but turned out to be ok as we were pretty full at this point. Somehow we ended up with a different waiter finishing up our evening, we tried the key lime cake which was a nice variation to top off the meal. I’ll definitely return, as the food and drinks are good, and the staff is very pleasant . Probably some early opening day kinks and jitters, but please get more...
Read moreBeen wanting to try this place for a few weeks now since it opened. Went for dinner tonight with my mother and had a very nice meal. App: chose the steak kabobs and can recommend those fully, 100% would order again. For mains she had the chicken and I had the short rib pasta. Both very good but we agreed my short rib stood out from the chicken. Nice portion size, we both took about 30% of our mains to-go. Fun take on key lime pie for dessert.
We dined outside and the space is excellent for such, in fact the whole restaurant is a good mix of about 1/3 inside dining, 1/3 bar, and 1/3 outside(courtyard). Vibe is casual but upscale, not a t-shirt place but nothing pretensive. Crowd was a mix of dates, friends, family etc. nice buildout and finish.
Service was very good, no complaints. Nothing ‘over the top’ but then again it was just me and her, and we aren’t particularly needy diners.
Bar concept of being 1/2 inside 1/2 outside will work very well in this space, as the outside courtyard is shielded from most of the elements.
For Tequesta, this is a very good date spot. HH menu and prices are on point, and they were about 65-70% full when we left at 7:40pm so that was good to see on a Thursday. Excellent spot for drinks if you aren’t going to do the waterfront Jupiter spots and want something a little different. Here’s to hoping...
Read moreWe came for happy hour, followed by dinner. The hostess was friendly as well as the waiter. The busboy was a bit annoying and kept saying the same silly joke all evening which wasn’t funny. The happy hour appetizers were great including the yellowtail, beef kabob and Caesar with falafel. I also had the tequila drink which was nice. We told the server we don’t want our food to be rushed and to have space between our courses when placed the appetizer and entree orders. But, we hadn’t even finished our appetizers and here comes our entrees. When my husband finished his entree they took his plate and I was not even close to finishing my entree. Then, I was eating my last bite from my entree and here they come to take my plate away while I’m still chewing. Entrees were good, but for prices in the upper $30’s they need to come with sides. They don’t even serve bread with the entrees. We had the circus sundae to finish the meal which was great. All in a nice evening, but horrible to be rushed. Gave us the feeling they were trying to get us out of there to turn the tables. Kind of a shame since we were celebrating a special occasion and wanted a leisurely evening. Next time I’ll probably just do happy hour which really was the best part...
