Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Terre Haute

I have to say that we really did not enjoy our experience tonight. We went in for some adult beverages and some dessert after eating dinner at another restaurant in town. It was our anniversary so we were out without kids and wanted to just hang out. The first thing I noticed was the musty smell of the restaurant. We have been there before and it was not like that. Our table appeared to be dirty. It was kind of sticky and had something red on it. It also had a spot that looked like something had been spilled on it and allowed to dry. I ignored all that. The server was great until he found out we were just doing drinks and dessert. Then he couldn't get away from the table fast enough . We ordered drinks and dessert at the same time. Shortly we heard the blender doing a the bartender made our drinks. Eventually our dessert was brought out by a different server. Im not sure how long it had been waiting to be delivered but the ice cream was pretty soft and melted. Our drinks didn't arrive until we had finished our food. My mudslide was runny and it was obvious it had been made for awhile. When the server finally came over I asked what had happened with our items and told him we were not very pleased. He said everything was brought out as soon as it was made. I told him I didn't think so. He offered to get the manager and I said yes. He left and came back with the check that he had removed one of the drinks. I paid and left. We did call and speak with the manager afterwards. He was very nice and offered us free desserts next time we go in. I appreciate that but we simply do not get in there more than once a year so that...

I have had 2 VERY BAD EXPERIENCES HERE. first, my husband received food poisoning after eating here. DO NOT EAT HERE. It was very bad. If you wanna go eat at Applebees go North, the south is nasty and he was extremely sick for days immidiately following eating at this location!

Second, this was our first experience here. I put the food poisoning fist so maybe more people would see and not eat here. This happened a year prior and we had decided to try again and that’s what led up to the food poisoning. We had 7 people with us. It was a busy night because of a power outage. Manager told us on the phone they had a table for us if we got there in 15 min. After driving out of our way for a little girl on her 8th birthday because she wanted to eat there they said it would be an hour wait despite what we were told on the phone. The man waiting near me that heard the conversation said they told him and another family the same exact thing. Literally the worst experience at a restaurant ever. As a current restaurant employee I understand these times are very hard, though that does not make an excuse for how terrible our service was. Our waiter was extremely rude and mentioned multiple times how he hated his job and so did the waiter next to our table. Our waiter claimed the restaurant was “going down in shambles” as soon as we sat down. My brother in law ordered a burger and he had a wrapper in the burger. YES…A WRAPPER IN THE BURGER! Our waiter told us he would fully compensate it and make a new one. The manager came over and said “we can take a few bucks off your meal” and only gave us half off.
