I went into this warming establishment. The inviting scent of fresh tortillas filled the air, it was at that moment Hailey greeted me with a shining smile. She expediently sat me at my sparkling clean table. I've never experienced such high-class service. Matt introduced himself and brought me chips and salsa, it looked so delectable. He kindly informed me that my server Nikki was following shortly behind. She quickly took my drink and food order and I felt suddenly at paramount comfort. Not long after, Robert personally brought me my ice cold margarita, with an extra meltdown, just as my server Nikki suggested. He was such a down-to-earth guy, I almost felt at home. Would definitely recommend sitting at his bar top. I was enjoying my drink, when I smelt the aroma of sizzling hot shrimp fajitas. A fantastic server named Anthony hand- served my food and I felt at bliss. The food was warm and scrumptious. The best fajitas I have ever eaten to date. As I finished my meal, I remembered I had ordered a dessert, two caramel churros. As if it was by design, Hannah brought out my dessert; perfect timing! She brought out a warm bowl, the ice cream looking as creamy as it does in the commercials. I finished my dessert and my only complaint, I couldn't tip them all. This is single-handedly the best experience I've had at a restaurant.
To top it all off, the shift manager Ryan, visited me to ensure everything was going perfectly. I didn't know a manager could be so kind and thoughtful based off of my experiences elsewhere. I'm telling you, without visiting this establishment before, I know Ryan has a stout customer base. He brings a lot of business to that place alone.
Overall, go to On The Border in Texarkana and you will be treated...
Read moreWe arrived 3pm and were seated with no silverware because they were just now washing silverware for the day. The server didn't know the menu as well as you should have as well as the drinks. It's not as attentive as she should have been. It was pulling teeth to get refills and we didn't see her for 20 minutes at a time. When she returned she said that she had an emergency to handle. We had no napkins and had to ask the hostess to grab us some napkins. We did not receive refills on our salsa and chips. She never asked if we needed anything. When we did receive our food there was not enough proportion on the fajita skillet for the price that it would set for. I also ordered shrimp tacos and 9 out of 10 of my shrimp had the shell still on them and we're deep fried and dressed and placed on my plate. We requested that the manager come for assistance but we had to ask the hostess because our waitress was not available. The manager handled the shrimp situation but not as professionally as they should have. He told me that the cook forgot to remove the shells and that I just got a bad batch of the shrimp. When my waitress return she told me that I guess the manager is handling your food situation. Then she asked me if I wanted another drink. At the end of our meal we sat and waited at least 10 to 15 minutes for her to return to give us the ticket and for to go boxes. She never came and again we asked the hostess to grab our tickets and our to go boxes. Somehow randomly our waitress arrived to save the day and give us our tickets. Needless to say this was less than satisfactory. I will not be returning to On the border...
Read moreAs a Houston resident, my expectations from this place were not met. I actually thought it would be a great place to dine in after a long trip but it turned out to be more of a hassle than anything. The water and ice from here are from the tap and the glasses were not properly washed and smelled like dirty rags. The food in general was bland. To be honest, I've had better Mexican food from food trucks back in Houston and small restaurants in San Antonio. Even New Orleans and Miami have better Mexican food, and being in Texas, I expected a better quality. After several requests to our waitress in regards to my boyfriend's tea, she finally got it right. I understand it's a weekend and it was busy but from the beginning we had poor service. As a waitress myself from one of the top 100 restaurants in Houston that caters to oil and gas companies, top notch surgeons, celebrities, millionaires and regular common folk, I understand how overwhelmed you can get but the least you can do is get the drinks right. For future reference, get a water filter, make sure your glasses do not smell like dirty rags and serve your food hot, not lukewarm. I gave up on sending anything back because I was scared that it would come back worse. Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone. After hours of eating here, I can still taste the tap water and feel sick to my stomach. Very...
