I have been coming to this restaurant for maybe a year and a half with my husband and two kids (son-7, daughter-9) and have enjoyed the food and waiters. A couple of months ago I noticed that the bill included 2 adults and 2 different child prices which it hadn't been in the past. I politely asked the waitress at the end of our meal why there were two different prices for the children and a woman that works at the front when I do see her said that I must have told the man that seats us every time we come that my daughter was over the age limit for the price we always pay and that he always asks customers the age of their children. I told her that he didn't ask and normally doesn't ask, she had a slight attitude but adjusted the bill. Since that time, when we would go to eat, I would tell the man at the front how old my kids were so that there wouldn’t be any confusion.
Well, I decided to take my kids to the restaurant today on my lunch break. When I walked in the door, I let him know how old my son and daughter were as I normally do from the last ordeal. He looked at me and said how long are you going to say that your daughter is 9 years old? You’ve been coming here for three years and you have said that she’s 9 years old for 3 years. This is not true, because I have not even lived in the area for 3 years. I thought it first he was joking and so I paused, waiting for his facial expression to change, or maybe a laugh. But when I realized that he was serious, I asked him if he was serious. My daughter is exceptionally tall for her age, she is 9 turning 10 in about a month, and is about 5’4 but it’s not far-fetched because I’m 5’10. I’m standing there with my kids and after this, he proceeds to tell me that he does not want my business and I need to leave, just go, and never to come back. I asked if I could speak to the manager, and he responded to me “manager? I‘m the owner” with a smirk. Every time I tried to say something, he literally cut me off and then would say whatever he wanted to say, and then when I would try to respond, he would cut me off again and then speak, and then walked away for me to the side counter while I’m standing at the door with my children. I never raised my voice, yelled, or acted unseemingly, I was mainly in shock. I was so appalled and couldn't believe what happened and how he treated me AND my children. My daughter was standing next to me while this was happening but didn't quite understand what was happening. She saw that I was in distress (mainly because I'm pregnant) and said “mom, it's ok. Let's just go”. I was in such shock and still trying to process everything while keeping my dignity and composure still somehow wished him a Merry Christmas.
I have NEVER in my life experienced such disrespect and poor service in my LIFE. The situation was so bad that my daughter cried all the way to another restaurant and then we had to have a talk for my kids to process what we experienced.
I have gone to restaurants of poor service, poor food, and even uncleanliness. However, I have always been determined to maintain my view and review of restaurants, because as a business owner myself, I understand some of the difficulties that come along with having a business and dealing with customers , which is why I hesitated on sharing my experience. But this experience really hit me in the core, mainly because of my children. even if he did not have the audacity to tell me to never come back to this restaurant, I still would never come back to this restaurant simply because he treated me and my children like we were moochers lying to get a few dollars off the bill. Every time we have gone to this restaurant, my husband and I always tip graciously because we believe in tipping appropriately and the waiters are kind and deserve a good tip.
I do understand that there are people that DO lie about the ages of their children to get a discount. HOWEVER, it is never ever acceptable to accuse and treat a customer the way I was treated! This needs to be considered...
Read moreReally appalled by the lies in the comments. Wow. I like this place. First time going a month or so ago and have returned frequently since. There's a nice variety of Chinese, seafood, sushi. More Chinese overall. Which I love! Of course, you may not like everything. But they have quite a few choices and there's plenty of good ones to choose from.
*Providing an update. I often would go to this place. Never had an issue before. But I recently went, and was literally disturbed. I get the same items each time for the most part. Got a few crab puffs 3 or 4. And, I typically pull them apart. There was one I couldn't tear. The attempt to rip, was tough. Turns out, it was full of the uncooked stuffing. It was raw! Literally. Couldn't believe my eyes, so i snapped a pic. I let the server know. Decided to go for some more items, that i generally get. I sit back down. Dig in. And the fried crabs??? The ones with the good seasoning, that I happen to really like! Cracking one open and the strongest wift of stench, that I have ever smelled in a restaurant, came from it. Another item that day, not thoroughly cooked. Oh my gawd. It was this raw jelly texture on both sides, between a left leg of the crab and right. It was disgusting. Showed the server that. She grabbed it up before I could take a pic. The owner or manager, LITERALLY was trying to negotiate the fact that "we cook our food". Instead of simply apologizing and making things right. Even in the end, trying to charge full price after all of that! I said, you can't be serious. Not even [half] the price. They took 3$ off. I won't be returning. Turns my stomach just...
Read moreWe ended up going here and after eating we paid for our food. As we were waiting in the front we noticed this sign off to the side that's says people over 60 get a discount. We told this very short asian man with glasses at the front that the person I was with was over 60 just to see if he would be willing to adjust the bill but he immediately became defensive and started saying "oh she's has a mask I couldn't see her", "there are signs in the front", "oh you paid already", "oh it would take long for me to adjust" and we were just standing there not saying anything watching this character go on and on like it was a life or death situation over what would have been a dollar or maybe $1.50 at most. We just left it and we're cool about it but I believe this short man is the owner/manager and have read multiple comments on here about this guy going off on people about these discounts, questioning people's kids ages, and getting into arguments with people over this stuff. Seems like this character has a history of this kind of stuff. Can't bother going back and dealing with any potential foolishness with this character over a dollar. Not angry and didn't create a situation out of it but it's beyond sad the lengths this guy went to with excuses just to not give a dollar. This type of nonsense feeds into certain stereotypes people have with these people and money but it's ok I'm sure there are other asian buffets out there that have staff that don't...
