This place smelled like sewage and they used American square cheese as their cheese in cheese enchiladas and a replacement for Monterey Jack.

A friend offered to take me to Mexican and I could not refuse because he is a friend. When we walked into this establishment that only had two of 25 tables at 7pm, I knew something was wrong by sight. But by smell, I also knew that something was wrong with their sewage system. The entire place smelled like backed-up sewage.

I did not want to offend my friend so if he did not smell it, I thought I could overcome it. I lived in China where this smell was common so I just put my mind at rest so it would ignore it. Maybe the Margarita and food will ease me into the experience.

When the Margarita arrived, it arrived with green-tinged salt. I asked that I have regular salt that won't make my lips green and they graciously changed it to regular uncolored salt, thankfully.

The salsa and chips arrived. The chips were fine: thin and crisp. The red salsa was very good. It was stewed and had a great temperature. The green salsa tasted like mayonnaise and was extremely hot. Not a good combination.

I ordered the Superior Special. It included:

Crispy beef taco Chile con queso Avacodo salad. Tamale Beef enchilada (I switched to chicken) Cheese enchilada

I ordered mine with ranchero beans instead of refried beans.

The crispy beef taco tasted like the beef sat the entire day and had a tinge of rot to it.

The chile con queso was simply a single fried/puffed corn tortilla with processed American cheese poured onto it. Horrible.

The avacado salad tasted fresh at first! Then it had a taste of fish. I could not finish it.

Then the main plate arrived.

The enchiladas were coated in processed American cheese that tasted just as it sounds. The cheese enchilada was stuffed with American cheese. Gross. And the tamale had no taste. I won't fault them with this, though, because tamales are not that great, even among fans of tamales.

The ranchero beans tasted like fresh cilantro to cover the old oil that has been used with other food and the beans were hard.

After tasting how gross this food was, I could only imagine how dirty the kitchen was.

GROSS FOOD. SEWAGE RESTAURANT. DIRTY KITCHEN.

Avoid this place at all costs. I hope I protected you if you read this. I haven't said anything to my friend but he said it wasn't very good on his way out and he really has no taste in food, so that says a lot.

The frozen Margarita was not very good either. Besides the green salt, it had a gelatinous finish even though the ice had melted. This told me that something was added to give it weight. I don't need to get a buzz on a single Margarita, but I don't want to get cheated on it. Avoid.

I wish there was a zero star so I could go less than zero with this review. Worst....

A friend suggested this place because it was open later than other restaurants in the area. We sat outside and I ordered a mojito and my friend ordered a margarita. Both our drinks were extremely weak. It took the waiter at least 15-20 min to return and take our order even though there were very few people in the restaurant. I ordered queso as an appetizer and it tasted...strange. Probably used some processed cheap cheese with a ton of preservatives. The chips were cold and hard. Absolutely not freshly made. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas when the waiter finally returned, and when the food arrived, my enchiladas were bland and the shrimp were tiny and a few of them had a grayish tinge. The plate was extremely hot but the food was lukewarm, a dead giveaway that this food had been microwaved. Further evidence of this meal not being fresh was the fact that the enchiladas were extremely soggy and fell apart when I tried to lift them into the to-go box. The refried beans was also burnt on the edges. There was no pico, sour cream, or lettuce to go with my enchiladas.

When we finished, I asked for the check, tipped 15% and got in the car with my friend to leave. As we were getting ready to go, the waiter and the manager were talking in front of the table we had been sitting at, and threw several dirty looks at us. I'm not sure why they'd be so rude, considering I was nothing but polite to them despite the poor quality of the food.

Absolutely do not go here. You'll still be hungry when you leave and $60 poorer for...

Saw some good reviews, so my wife and I gave them a shot. Restaurant seemed clean and not too worn. They are either really early or never cleaned the front glass as there are Christmas themes painted on it. Inside seemed a little dark for my liking. Also, there was a deer head mounted to the wall above our table. Not too appetizing. We were greeted and given chips and two salsas. The chips were really good. I think the green salsa is a jalapeno puree. Hot! Be warned! The red salsa tasted pretty good, but the vegetables were cut too large. Hard to get on a chip. I ordered the Monterrey. Two beef tacos, cheese enchilada, and one tamale. The beef in the tacos was under seasoned. The enchilada was underwhelming. The tamale was tasty. I also really enjoyed the rice. That's a big thing with me. My wife had the fish tacos. The fish was, in her words, "A little fishy", for her. Her tacos were really big! Our server could have checked on us a little more. The place was practically empty. Overall not bad, but nothing...

My mother picked up an order and it was wrong and the quality of the food was poor. The queso was HARD AS HELL and when she ordered online she strictly said "No refried beans" on the nachos and guess what was on the nachos? Refried beans. Waste of money. I had to warm the queso up serval times. The queso is way too thick and isn’t actual queso I had to find a way to make the consistency thinner. The queso was literally stuck to the to go foil container. She had to go back to get the correct order (Nachos no beans). Response: When she did go back to get the correct order she did get another batch of queso and it was the same case, it was way too hard and she noticed how hard it looked as soon as she got in the car so it didn’t sit long at all for her notice that the queso was just like the bad batch. Your “queso” is just unnaturally thick whether it sits or not. Queso isn’t supposed to be this insanely thick and should have a more “liquid” type of consistency.

I ordered three Tacos al Pastor with all the fixings (grilled onions, Cilantro, Avocado slices, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, slice of lime and a grilled jalapeño. No rice, no beans. The tacos come on warmed corn tortillas (not crispy) with a generous amount of seasoned chopped lean pork (Pastor). Typical, one would dress up their taco to suit your taste. I add a little of each; grilled onions, Cilantro, Avocado, slices of grilled jalapeño and a squeeze of lime. This makes quite a fat taco! But it is easy to eat, all the flavors contribute to the street taco flavor. This three taco plate is very satisfying and will leave you full, with no rice nor beans. Fast, friendly service, clean tables AND menus, great atmosphere, relaxed vibe. Tacos al Pastor at Las Flores, treat yourself!
