I want to share an unfortunate experience my husband and I had during a recent visit. We were excited to dine at Parryâs Pizza, as weâve enjoyed the atmosphere and food in the past. However, this time, we encountered something that left us feeling deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome.
When we arrived, the hostess was on the phone. We waited patiently at the front. A white family entered shortly after us and stood behind us. Despite our clear presence and making eye contact with the hostess, she greeted the family behind us first and seated them immediately. When we asked why they were seated before us, she said she didnât see usâeven though we were standing directly in front of her. She then led us to a table in the very back corner of the restaurant.
Trying to remain composed, I asked to speak with the manager to express how the situation felt discriminatory. I explained that while I didnât want to assume intentions, the actions were hard to overlookâespecially as Hispanic customers being bypassed for a white family that arrived after us.
The manager listened, but instead of acknowledging my concern, she defended the hostess by saying she is âhalf Hispanicâ and not racist. I never used the word âracist,â but I did express how the situation made me feel: overlooked and treated unfairly. Rather than address the impact of the experience, the manager focused on dismissing the possibility that anything inappropriate occurred, which felt like gaslighting. She did offer an appetizer card, but by then the damage had been done. We didnât eat or drink anything and chose to leave.
This review is not intended to bash Parryâs Pizza. My husband and I genuinely enjoyed the place before this. But the way our concerns were handledâminimized, deflected, and not truly heardâwas disappointing and disheartening. Itâs important to raise awareness of these kinds of experiences. Everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and welcomeâregardless...
Read moreI'll preface this with the fact that we love the pizza here and I've left a good review for this business in the past. In that review I mentioned the often scant check ins by the servers which is an easy fix. Remind your servers to make their rounds more frequently. But, this visit showed that they obviously did not pay attention to that part of our feedback.
We came in for dinner last night around 8:30. It wasn't super busy, most of the patrons were sitting at the bar. (Perhaps because they couldn't get service at a table?) The hostess promptly seated us with menus and no silverware. (That happens often but we'll overlook that and ask our server.) Then, we sat at our booth for nearly 10 minutes and NO ONE even bothered to acknowledge us let alone take our order. It was obvious that we had not been helped as there were no drinks on our table and we didn't need the menus since we were ready to order. One server walked right past us TWICE! Another looked as if she was on her way to take our order and then walked right past us, too. We were hungry and not in the mood to have to flag someone down in an effort to enjoy a meal and a few simple refills on our drinks. So, we left and went around the corner to MOD. On our way out, I handed the menus back to the hostess who smiled and started to bid us a great night. I informed her that no one bothered to even check on us. It's worth noting that there were two other (hostesses or servers) standing at the front with her, chatting and checking a phone. Parry's Management, most of your servers seem to be great people but, you are not training them to be great servers. In that, you're setting them (and this location) up for failure by letting down the diners. It's going to take more than a tasty menu to get people in the seats and PAYING. You have to have SERVICE, too. In this area, there is no shortage of other options for diners. And, they will quickly take their business...
Read moreGrowing pains are the main problem but other issues may hurt this nice pizza place. Upon entering, your immediately struck by the feeling you walked into a smaller more sports bar version of a BJâs pizza. Sadly, this location is struggling with their start up (at least for us they were). They were still doing construction and you had to be careful not to trip over the ladders upon entering (hanging blinds) and could barely talk over the drills. The a/c wasnât working and staff walked around fanning themselves. Speaking of staff. they have tons⌠apparently all still in training as nobody had a clue what to do. The reserved table wasnât ready yet the place was empty. I never got our plate (asked 4 times) i ended up using a napkin to eat on. Never cleared the menus - we finally moved ourselves. Their salad grilled chicken option but itâs really PEPPERCorn chicken and they have no alternate. The booths (which is most of the seating) are small and barely accommodate one pizza - no way 2. The manager came over when we returned the salad. They still didnât get it right I gave an extra star because the pizza was good (i like thin crust if you donât - avoid). the salad decent ad the chicken tender good surprisingly small for the price - but tasty. I wish them well and would eat their pizza again but you cana find way better service and atmosphere available elsewhere with better non...
