I delayed posting this review until 5 pm, as the manager on duty promised to call me back, but he did not. Please don't make promises you choose to not keep. Just call back and say I am sorry I could not get an answer..
I will revise this review if it is addressed.
Despite these issues, I recommend visiting since the food is good. This could easily be a 5 star experience. I loved the food but service down to management earned this feedback.
The staff struggles with proper change handling. They either gave too little change by omitting coins, returned excessive amounts, or I had to correct them on the change owed. Moreover, the store advertises delivery online, which is misleading. If customers order through this link, their money is tied up for up to three days before a refund. This needs addressing; the website should clearly list the delivery services you work with.
I dined at your restaurant for three consecutive days. The food is excellent, and one manager was outstanding. However, another manager dismissed my concerns about cash handling as "old school," claiming they round up or down in Brownsville, and some waitresses do the same in Pharr. This is not acceptable. Proper cash handling is fundamental, not outdated. When a customer has to prevent a waitress from mistakenly overcharging nearly $20, it indicates a serious need for managerial retraining. Apathy starts at the management level.
To the owners: your establishment has potential and offers a five-star product. I spent about $275 over three visits because I was initially impressed. The first day was great, the second average with a waitress incorrectly handling my change, and the third day I faced issues with an online order which your system refunded, yet the in-store manager was indifferent.
I will upgrade my review to five stars if you demonstrate genuine concern and improvement. Over three days, I showed the manager the issue with the online ordering link, but he was apathetic. This oversight not only inconvenienced me but tied up over $107 of my money for three days. This could significantly impact someone's financial situation. Please address these system flaws. Great food isn't enough if the service is poor. I would prefer good but not great food if service was excellent rather than excellent food with poor follow through. If you promise to call a customer back, please do so or don't make the promise. These issues should be rectified by Corporate before considering opening more stores.
It's a real disappointment since the food was excellent, but the service and atmosphere suffered due to poor cash handling and managerial indifference. Brian, the front store manager, should be considered for the General Manager position due to his positive attitude, absolute follow through and genuine concern. I have never met Brian other than on one visit. He held your store to a standard. I hope it continues. There are so many other places to visit. Please focus on quality. I will return if you do and I will revise if this is addressed seriously.
The food is good. But I even after this review ordered online and this restaurant continued to disappoint because they didn’t read the order and they didn’t make one of the items. Disappointed. Management only wants you to reach out through an email. Disappointed. Like the food, tired of the level of service. This was a separate order from the above review, but it continues the same problem. Good food, bad service. We even picked the order up and you still...
Read moreI've had an eye on Parry's since it opened. Pizza...wings...and over 70 beers on tap... my type of destination! Unfortunately...it failed to live up to my expectations.
I took my family...mind you 7 of us with everyone included. We were sat I guess in the "large family" area...which is fine. The booth was spacious and every one was comfy.
Why the 3 stars...better yet, let me rephrase the question, why were 2 stars lost? Because of the service. I'll admit, the waitress (I do remember her name but I won't name her) was friendly, but very absent. I'm not sure if it was simply too much for her, since one waitress was assigned to such large tables (7-8 people each), or if it was simply her.
When we were sat...it took about 5-7 mins for her to come by to take our drinks. After placing the order for our drinks...maybe another 10-12 mins for the drinks to arrive. The waitress said I could get a sample of a beer from the beer menu...I received the sample maybe 20 mins later.
Here was the kicker...we ordered our food. I ordered a kids pizza for my 5 yr old son, with ranch. When the food started coming out, the brought my son's pizza first. A different waitress came to drop it off. I noticed there was no ranch and asked if she could please bring the ranch. She simply nodded... turned...and walked away. Did she bring the ranch? You can figure it out...but my son waited around for another 10 mins for some ranch to be brought out by our regular waitress.
I'll be clear on this...the food is bomb here. The Knickerbocker bread... perfect appetizer to start. I had the wings...loved the Hot BBQ wings. Perfect pairing of sweet with heat. I do wish the wings were piping hot...I think they were held back a little while they waited on the other entrees.
Amazing beer menu...I love when places list what type of beer your are drinking, along with it's ABV. Parry's is only one of 2 that I know of with such a great beer menu.
BUT...when you have bad service, it will always leave a bad taste in your mouth when you leave, regardless of how tasty the food was. And one more tidbit...
I had ordered a Skyline IPA. After we had already paid the check...the same waitress who ignored me on the ranch, came by with an IPA in hand and asked me if I had ordered a Skyline. I told her I had and it was already brought to me and drank. Jokingly I told her she could leave it...she just nodded her, not one word to me...walked off with it. Guess what the bar would do with it when she brought it back...? I'm pretty sure they were just going to toss it...
Great atmosphere... dynamite food... unfortunately lacking in service during my experience. Will I be back... probably, but I definitely won't be bringing my...
Read moreI recently visited Parry’s Pizza in McAllen, and let me just say—this place exceeded every single expectation I had. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was energetic and welcoming, with the perfect mix of sports-bar energy and casual comfort. But the highlight of my experience wasn’t just the food (which was amazing), it was my server, Natalie, who absolutely made the night unforgettable.
Let’s talk food first: The pizza was out of this world. Crispy crust, rich sauce, generous toppings, and cooked to perfection. I ordered a few different styles to share with friends, and every single bite had us all going, “Damn, this is good.” Their wings? Incredible. Perfectly sauced and juicy. Even the beer selection was top-tier—tons of craft options, ice cold, and served quick. You can tell this place takes pride in their menu and it shows in every detail.
Now, for what made this visit really special—Natalie. From start to finish, she was hands-down one of the best servers I’ve ever had, anywhere. She was attentive without hovering, super friendly, and totally on top of everything. Drinks were always refilled before we had to ask, she knew the menu inside and out, and her recommendations were on point. Plus, she just had a really positive energy that made everyone at the table feel welcome and taken care of.
It’s not often you come across someone who goes above and beyond like that, but Natalie did—effortlessly. Honestly, she deserves a promotion. You can tell she’s someone who genuinely cares about her job, the customer experience, and representing Parry’s in the best possible way.
If you’re in McAllen and haven’t been to Parry’s Pizza, you’re missing out. And if you go, ask for Natalie. Trust me, she’ll turn a great meal into a fantastic experience. Parry’s, take care of your star employees—you’ve got a...
