I have visited this location several times in the past and vowed that I would not brighten their dining room with my beautiful diamond-like presence ever again due to poor customer service. The workers are extremely rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming! I wish I would have stuck to my guns and not graced this place again, but it's all good. I just hate spending my money in establishments where I am treated with disrespect and disregarded as a paying customer. Firstly, upon entering, my daughter and I, were greeted by one of the workers which was a surprise to me, because in the past they have never greeted me when I walk in. As I was placing my order for a small salad, I asked if I could have a little more lettuce. The server paused a moment and then responded, "no we cannot give you more." I told her that I would pay extra money if she could give me a little more lettuce and that I have no problem paying. Before she could respond back to me, another worker who may have been the store manager, was standing behind her sweeping the floor, hurriedly and responded in a rude manner pointing and saying, "Read the signs. You only get this amount of lettuce for a small salad. We cannot give you more." I responded, "Ma'am I'm willing to pay. I really like a lot of lettuce in my salad." She then responded detestably, "Well you need to order a large salad!" I politely replied, "Okay, no problem. I can do that." I did not want that much lettuce of a large salad but just a little bit more added to my small salad but was refused with such disdain. To make matters worse, I asked the server if she could please give me some of the fresh lettuce instead of the withered lettuce that was mixed in with the fresh. That really cooked their noodles. By this time, they were steaming-mad-hot with me. Furthermore, as I went down the line asking for my toppings, I dared not ask for extra, even though the amount of the sides that they serve are the size of a freaking nickel. You know that little tiny serving spoon that they serve the sides with? They only gave me one scoop of each of my toppings, but I dared not ask for two scoops, especially with the manager getting emotional behind me asking for extra lettuce as if she owns the place, lol. They also gave my daughter a hard time because she asked for extra chickpeas on her salad and for some of the fresh lettuce instead of the withered lettuce. They gave it to her but with such a nasty attitude, slamming her bowl of salad on the counter. We should have walked out right then and there and reported them to corporate. However, I just don't have the time and energy to waste on these unhappy and ungrateful people and besides, I was starving. I just know that I will never go back ever again to this location. Moreover, for my salad, I ordered Romaine Lettuce, jalapeños, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, banana peppers, black olives, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and pesto chicken with the Balsamic Vinaigrette salad dressing on the side. My daughter ordered a small salad consisting of Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, chickpeas, avocado, and pesto chicken. We both opted out of them mixing and chopping our salads as we always do. Overall, I love the concept of this establishment because it offers healthy eating options and has a variety of toppings and proteins to choose from. However, this location with its staff and their nasty attitudes and poor customer service skills can kick rocks. The dining room is always half clean each and every time I have visited. The food is expensive, which is to be expected because it is expensive to eat healthy. However, when it comes to spending my money in any establishment, I expect to be treated with kindness, respect, and amiability. I spent a little over $40 for two salads and a drink. Oh, and let me not forget to mention the extra charge for the avocado that was added to my salad. I absolutely do not recommend this...
Read moreI'm changing my review, since it's not actually a 1 star restaurant. However, there are things that could be improved. Pros: Fresh ingredients, good selection, appears very clean, staff is mostly friendly, and this is one of the Salata locations with a soft drink machine (+1).
I see people complaining about not getting enough of one ingredient or another, just ask. The person making your salad doesn't know that you REALLY REALLY like bleu cheese, so tell them, don't just say "that's fine" and grumble later on about how little you got. Now, they can only give you so much meat, avocado, artichoke hearts, and other things that cost extra. But most places are like that, so it shouldn't be a shock.
Cons: Get here after 8:30 and they're already cleaning up. It would make sense to start cleaning at closing time, 9pm, because the harsh chemicals used can completely ruin the flavor of a salad as well as kicking up dust into the ambient air which would then settle onto your food.
The music. If you've ever been here, I don't really need to elaborate. This is not a location problem, but a Salata (all Salatas must use "Salata Radio") problem. The music is awful, it varies from what sound like indian music, to tamborine solos, to 80s music, to music that I assume is used to charm snakes, etc.
Summary: all-in-all very solid. The most solid salad restaurant you'll find in Houston. A little pricey ($12 for a small salad with meat and maybe some extras), but it's good quality so I believe...
Read moreThis was by far the best experience I’ve had at Salata. I usually come in with my guard, ready to act like a Karen over some lettuce, but ALL the workers were super friendly & accommodating. They were not stingy with the lettuce or toppings, no one gave me an attitude because I wanted my bowel full of mostly lettuce. Most of the locations I’ve been to the workers act as if the damn lettuce is coming out of their pockets or they’re personally going out to buy it.. lettuce! Not proteins or even any other toppings, freaking lettuce! The location on Louetta actually told my sister’s friends that wanting extra toppings would be an extra cost ( not protein) and when she requested a to-go-box the same female worker told her it was an EXTRA charge!! I’ve had a few talks with Salata cooperate offices & this is not true.. toppings as much as you want.. protein is an extra charge! This location will be my place even if I can only go after work since it’s far from where I live! My bowel was beautiful & a salad woman’s dream with my extra scoops of seafood mix (paid extra for expected). I even tipped them I was so stunned by the friendly attitudes. Thank you for not making ordering a salad...
