Left Field Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Thornapple Township

We went here last Sunday for coffee and brunch in search of somewhere local to get breakfast, great coffee, and space to get some work done. We've been to left field many times before just for lattes to enjoy while walking the trail. This was the first time we ordered food and stayed inside. I understand the building is old but that doesn't excuse the dirty, sticky tables. It wasn't busy when we got there, and we went to 3 different tables before we found one that had crumbs but wasn't sticky.

If you're looking for great coffee, go to Left Field! Run to Left Field! I love the changing latte menu and their names! I tried the Adventure (smores) latte and will be going back for another! But. If you're looking for a cozy cafe, this wasn't it for us.

We ordered 2 of the toast, egg, vegan sausage brunch option. They were exactly the same but one came out 20 min before the other. My fiance was patient and didn't want to go check on his food, but when he eventually did when I was done eating, it was just sitting on the counter, cold.

As for the food, the bread had no flavor. It definitely needs salt or something added to the dough. The vegan sausage was the best part and was very tasty.

I really hope this place only goes uphill from here and want it to be our cozy cafe of choice, but it's not...

This place is such a delight. The coffee is roasted well, and the flavors are as they should be. Nothing burnt, either bright with the lighter roasts or earthy with the darker ones. The staff is friendly, and that Amanda girl has plenty of genuine smiles and helpfulness to go around. Overall, this a warm and inviting little cafe. I highly recommend a stop in. The fifth star may be added after I try your espresso. Cheers all, and see you soon.

Update: I returned to this fun little cafe. Amanda was there again, spreading happiness. I also met Tyler, the slider slinging cook in the kitchen. Again, excellent staff and service. Anyway, you're still reading this for the espresso. It's worth the wait. It's silky and easy to drink. Dear coffee lovers, please try this. There's no reason to mix it into a cappuccino or latte. The espresso is made from a couple of their dark roasts. Full of earthy, chocolate flavors. Thank you...
