We started off slow and picked up momentum throughout the night. We never saw anybody from management in the entire restaurant, and the workload seemed to be unfavorable for some of the employees who were putting in the extra work for the guests....
We walked in on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. Tables were on a 30 minute wait. There were two bartenders and a barback. We waited about 15 minutes to be greeted even though we were at the bar top. They were obviously very busy, so we waited patiently.
Our drink order was eventually taken, and we requested the customary bread and salad that accompany entrees. Our drinks were still another ten minutes out, and a different waitress finally delivered the starter. 40 minutes into our experience, we were starting to settle into our seats with a drink and something to peck at.
I ordered the Dirty Bird Martini, which is both flavorful and powerful. It features both Grey Goose Vodka and Bombay Sapphire Gin, Olive Juice and Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives. The thin layer of oil resulting from the heavy blue cheese olive spear adds a unique depth of flavor to the signature martini. I so had a manhattan, which had a touch too much sweet vermouth and did not accentuate the select whisky. I would opt for an old fashioned instead.
Our food order went in without a hitch, and we had out dinner promptly. Our dinners were mid-faire, considering the expectations, but we enjoyed them nonetheless. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the shrimp were absolutely devine. I found the veal scallopini to be especially dry and tough, despite my taste for veal cutlets. Next time, i will choose a different cut selection and hope for better results.
One of our bartenders, Mikey, really seemed genuine about our experience, and he made it a great pleasure to be there. Unfortunately, he was busy working double time to ensure the whole bar top had a great experience, and I wasn't able to chat with him as much as we would have liked.
Mikey was the redeeming aspect of our evening, and is probably the number one reason we will come back to Johnny's Steak House. He went above and beyond to help us enjoy our night, and we really appreciate his attention and enthusiasm. I hope he's there for us next time as well.
We had a wonderful evening, despite the slow start, and we look forward to returning in the...
Read moreOuch....I'm not one to complain to start. The atmosphere is good, prices were in line for a (good) steak house but turned out this wasnt close.
For starters When we asked our waitress about some menu items, she said she wasn't good at memorization, and said to refer to the menu.....I thought, ok haha! we can get through this and we did on our own. Lol
I'm a midwest steak lover. We have ate at the high end places Del Frisco's, hideaway steak house etc. But i love texas roadhouse, Longhorn and Outback as well!
So of course I ordered the Charbroild Ribeye medium rare and loaded baked potato. Dang, it showed up with a Hotel or Bonanza looking steak and a luke warm dry potato on a big plate. For sure no fancy steak house presentation at all. Steak was tough as well and had to struggle through it. They claim they aged 28 days but chilis has had better than this sad thing. The loaded potato had a $2 charge for loaded but it was slim to none on the loaded part for sure.
Management asked if all was good and i said no, he offered to get me another but i declined. I thanked him for that, but my guests were over half done with there meals and i didnt want to wait.
Two of my guests had the sirloins (chubby and parmesan crusted) they enjoyed those and they looked great on the plate.
One other guest had the Drunken sirloin. It looked way better than my king of steaks the Ribeye, but That was ok at best she said.
The biggest thing we couldn't get over and were laughing about, was the 'family style' salad! It came in a small bowl i could have eaten myself but it was for 4 people?! lol. We wanted to ask our waitress about that after seeing other groups get 2 salads. But she was a no show.......the salad was really good ! So ORDER 2!
Overall, its a Hotel restaurant. To be honest Texas road house is better and $140 cheaper.(which is sad) I was expecting more for the $240 meal.
If you like expensive pasta?? Maybe give it a try. Good luck though.
Try it for yourself though! Good luck and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to come dine in after I got off work because I was craving some spaghetti, we walk in and head towards the bar and it took a while for someone to even greet us and when we finally got greeted we felt unwelcomed, Mikey saw us and said “welcome in, sit down wherever you want” in the rudest way possible, my boyfriend and I just looked at each other and sat down, it was slow and hardly any customers, took 10 minutes before Mikey finally came to take our drink orders, we gave him our orders and he walked away and never came back, if it weren’t for Joseph our experience would have been god awful, he noticed we hadn’t been helped at all, brought us our drinks then tried to tell Mikey that we were ready to order and Mikey scoffed at him and walked off so Joseph took our orders instead and walked up to the bar to let Mikey know that he took care of us for him and Mikey proceeded to yell and belittle Joseph for 5 minutes straight then complain to Joseph about how he got a $20 tip over the phone that he now had to split with him, when the restaurant started to pick up a bit Mikey then decided to change his attitude and greet customers but after what I had experienced I know it was all about the tips for him, he never once came back to our table and if Joseph weren’t there our experience would’ve been very different, I was so happy we had Joseph to take care of us after seeing how awful mikey was to not only us but to Joseph as well, I tried to express to Joseph that I didn’t like the way mikey was treating him, Joseph seemed like such a genuinely nice person and he really tried to make our experience amazing after we had to deal with Mikey’s attitude, i work in retail management and would never treat any of my employees like that and it doesn’t matter what kind of day you are having, when you work in customer service you do not walk in with a bad attitude. Other than that food...
