Blazin Gyros are located across from the goodwill next door to Walgreens in a plaza on the Tigard King City border. This place has been open for about two months. This is a fast food business model without the drive up window. They call you up and you pick up the food. They don't deliver it to the table. Our visit occurred mid evening on a Saturday. They were not busy. There was only one other party sitting in the dining area. I am going to have to check back with this place in a few months to see if they have improved.
I would like to politely suggest some improvements that would make future patrons happy:
Make sure there is at least one clean table available. Make sure there are no food particles on table. Patrons find this unappetizing. Disposable utensils ketchup and forks need restocked often. -Make sure the temp of the food your serving is more on the hotter side than the barley warm side. Double check that your microwave is correctly reheating the food to proper temps. -Add pita on the menu. Also when you serve hummus you must give the patron pita. They can't just eat it with a spoon. -Medium sized soup was served in a small cardboard cup. Very spicy. spicier than I am sure what most patrons could handle. very oily. price vs value/portion size was not of great value.
Vegetarian platter advertises 2 of everything. The platter they gave us only had one of everything. Only 1 Grape leaf 1 falafel. Salad with no dressing. A generous portion of hummus with no pita bread. how is the patron suppose to eat the hummus with no pita bread? are they suppose to eat it with a spoon? The spinach and cheese pie, the crust was very good.
The gyro salad was nothing special. The price vs value does not line up. It was more like a $5.00 salad than the price listed on the menu. Subpar basic.
-The cottage fries w hot sauce and cheese and oregano. Not hot and fresh. barley warm. Not exciting. Double check your microwave is working properly.
-They were out of baba ganoush! what? Very Sad :(
I would like to nicely suggest if an establishment is out of food, and cannot properly conduct business as described as per the menu, and they can only offer 1/2 size portion then tell the patron! Only charge them 1/2 price and be straightforward with this information. Don't sell the patron a shorted product with only 1/2 of what is suppose to be there and charge them full price. You will loose patrons this way. They will feel disrespected.
We are lucky to have a number of choices between king city and Portland city proper. Maybe owners would like to drive down the road and check out how the competition of middle eastern/ medditrainian establishments are conducting business and take ideas for improvement. Offer coupons and lower your prices if you are going to sell fast food grade cuisine. I hope they improve their business. I hope to check back with them in a few months to see if they have improved, but the likelihood of that is very low. There are many choices of this style of cuisine within a just a few miles of each other. I guess if you lived in King city and that is all you had to choose from as per middle eastern/meditrianian cusine, I could understand why you would give it high stars. It is very close to where you live, and you are happy to have one more choice of restaurants in King City. Again, I will try and get back here to check for improvements. Good luck with...
Read moreNot bad, not great. I have spent a lot of time in Greece, working closely with the Greeks in NATO, dating a Greek for a while, and traveling there many times, including a one month stint in 2006, so I know gyros. When I saw the 4.5 star average Yelp rating for 116 reviews, my hopes were high, but they were rather quickly dashed.
On the hottest day of the year, the place was truly "blazin" due to the fact that they apparently have no air conditioning. Being uncomfortably hot inside, we ordered "to go". We wanted to sample a few things on our first visit, so we ordered a Meat Pie and a Cheese Pie ($2.95 ea), a Traditional Gyro with lamb and NO PICKLES ($6.99 - pickles on a gyro? ... not very "traditional"), a Grape Leaves Gyro ($6.50) with NO TOMATOES (my wife is allergic), and a LARGE order of Cottage Fries ($3.95).
The pies were OK, untraditionally made with "pizza dough" instead of the traditional light and flaky filo dough, and with very little filling. I noticed that we had received a small order of fries instead of the large I had ordered before we left, but instead of fixing the discrepancy, the owner told me that he would comp us a large order next time. I hope he has a very good memory because I am not sure we will be returning any time soon.
When we opened our sandwich boxes, my wife was horrified to see tomatoes all over her grape leaves gyro, making it inedible due to her allergy. She was able to pick out a few of the grape leaves which had not come into contact with the tomatoes, so it was not a total loss.
My gyro had plenty o' meat, negligible onions, and a shitload of tzatziki sauce. I love tzatziki, but the gyro was drenched in it, making it difficult to eat or discern the taste of the other ingredients. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh.
Instead of trying to up-sell every item ordered, which was the case here ... Do you want feta cheese on that gyro? ... Do you want Greek fries instead of regular? ... they should focus on getting the order right and not giving patrons foods that they did not order and/or are allergic to. In all, Blazin'Gyros was a blazin' disappointment and unworthy of anything more than a less than average rating, particularly considering the tomato faux pas and my wife's allergy concerns.

Update 4/21/19: I went here today, they staff was not as friendly. I stood at the register and waited for someone to take my order for at least 5 minutes. When the cook realized that the cashier was not taking my order, he came by to take my order. So I order the Blazin Gyros, but I asked him to put my meat on the grill because I like my meat crispy, and he kinda gave me lip about the fact the meat was already cooked. That instantly annoyed me because what ever happened to the customer is always right, and so what! What was the big deal?! So he said he would do it, however they did not put my meat on the grill. So anyway, I told this guy that I wanted extra Blazin sauce on the side and he said "okay." Fast forward to my order being ready the original cashier guy called me up to get my order and I asked him if he put my extra sauce on the side, this guy rolled his eyes as if HE was the one was annoyed and he had the nerve to tell me that I should have told them in the beginning that way he could have charged me! Umm hello! I did tell someone, I told your cook that played cashier while you were in the back doing God knows what. So I looled at the cashier/cook and said didnt I tell u I want extra sauce, this boy then then well I should have told the original cashier! I mean how many people do I have to tell? If I gave u my money and swiped my credit card, YOU should have known to charge me not me. So you know what Blazin gyros, for your lack of customer service and rudeness, I will not be going back, I will continue to go allllll the way to Gyros to go even thoughI live at least 45 minutes away. I will not be treates this...
