I’m so lucky to come across with Rocoto Peruvian Kitchen while visiting Oregon for the first time. This place deserves to keep its 5 stars!
This is the first place I have came to the same food truck/restaurant for the second time in the same week, as a San Franciscan foodie, this place is top notch and you won’t find his food anywhere else, I made sure to come back and get his chicharrón sandwich before leaving from Oregon. You can tell how every appetizer and entry meals are made carefully with love, the lomo saltado and the chicharrón melts in your mouth as well as his alfajores cookies, everything is made by the owner. I will recommend you to drink his natural drinks, sadly when I came he didn’t have chicha but I will make sure to give it a try when I come back since you can only try this type of drink in South America.
I’m sure this place will innovate and expand in the near future, you can smell, taste and see his passion and love in his food. I hope I can see his business around in...
Read moreI stopped in tonight and had the Lomo Saltado con Arroz Criollo - Peruvian beef stir-fry with Creole steamed rice. So delicious! The peppers, spices and meat were just excellent - on a bed of fries (common with "home-style" Peruvian dishes). I tried both the red and green sauces; and both were good, but I liked the green sauce a bit more - maybe more cilantro-y(?) The chef - Nelson - is from Peru; and told me about visiting his Incan ancestral home in the Andes. A really nice guy. I have been to Cusco (the traditional Inca capital) a couple of times, and I would say that the Lomo Saltado dish is very representative of what you would find at a family restaurant in the trendy San Blas neighborhood (for example). So, definitely authentic - with an Andean "home-style" flavor. One note: Rocoto is one of the food carts in the row just outside the Portland Mercado; in case that isn't clear from the listing. Thank you for the...
Read moreDecided to give this place a shot after driving past a few times and so glad we did! The owner is so incredibly nice and sweet, and the food is absolutely delicious in every way! It’s all freshly made to order, and so filling! My partner finished his sandwich and was very satisfied, I could only eat about half of my dish before getting full. 😅 but now I’m glad I can snack on it later. This place is certainly worth the drive. His vegan dishes are cooked separately from his other dishes, which is super great! (I’m not vegan, but I understand the worry of cross contamination) The prices might seem high to some, but honestly, it’s worth every penny and then some. I will be back very often. Please do yourself a favor and eat here. This guy certainly deserves all the...
