I have been trying different pizza establishments in the Portland Metro area for years, I have found some decent places, but none of them have impressed me enough to say, yes that is my “go to place”. I mostly have just been settling for whatever was cheapest or most convenient, if I was feeling unmotivated or short on time. So, on Tuesday I decided to try Rovente pizza for dinner, they are a little more expensive than I usually get, but I saw it had good reviews and wanted to try and find some good pizza. I picked up a large carnivores delight. The staff was friendly and the pizza was ready quicker than the time they quoted me. I had a chance to meet the owners and they seemed like friendly good people who cared about the quality of the product they were making and good customer service. The restaurant wasn’t very large but it seemed clean. I liked the live edge wood table. They had some decent music playing and it wasn’t loud and obnoxious like at some other chains. When I got home was when things really started to stand out. I open the pizza box and the smell was great but good pizza usually does. It was loaded with toppings and has a nice New York crust, thick outer crust, thin where the toppings are. After trying the pizza I was brought back to my days of really good pizza and fun at birthday parties at the local pizzeria as a child, but even better quality. They use very good quality toppings there’s not too little or too much sauce and their herb/spicing combinations are just right. It has a nice tough crust that you have to tear into, but it’s not dry and is very flavorful and airy, without large air pockets/bubbles. And of course it was great the next day when I finished off the pizza. I was very impressed with her Rovente’s pizza. So, I decided I needed to try their calzones if I was going to recommend this place to my brother he really likes calzones. The delivery driver was fast friendly, had a neat appearance. I was totally taken by surprise with the calzone it was the best calzone I have ever had. It is actually a cross between a calzone and a stromboli. Any other time I have ever had sauce in the crust of a calzone they usually wind up being a wet mess this time it was not the crust was more delicate and moist than with the pizza it was, so good, that I will have to order another one to describe it to you in more detail. It is very rare to find a pizzeria that makes a great pizza and a spectacular calzone this is definitely my bar being set. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for fast friendly service with great pizza and excellent calzones with a fairly large selection...
Read moreWent to Rovente for the first time last night and OH MY GOODNESS WILL WE BE BACK!!! I'm new to the area and an absolute lover of pizza and this is the best I've found. I ordered a cheese pizza and a custom. We tried the cheese first and were so beyond stoked. If the cheese pizza was that good we couldn't wait to try our custom and oh my goodness I wish I had the words to explain how good it is. The crust is more on the thin side which I loved as it was firm with a bit of crunch but also soft and perfectly chewable. Their sauce was phenomenal, we got regular red on the cheese and spicy red on the other and both were amazing. The cheeses and toppings also were fresh and delicious! I think the gal working the counter was named Kat and I think she mentioned she was a manager, I told her it was my first time in and how excited I was to try you guys. She told me about how Rovente's is family owned and how amazing the owners are which are all things I love to hear as a customer. I also really loved her confidence that I was going to love the pizza and boy was she right! I didn't get the other gal workings name but they really did an incredible job and I will absolutely be a...
Read moreYou can probably tell by my name that I'm from Chicago! I grew up in a very Italian south suburb and I'm very particular about Italian food specifically pizza and calzone. Where I grew up I learned to make most Italian foods by hand from the Nonnis with the hair in the bun, the starched white apron, and the black dress down to the floor. I would have given five Stars if they had thick crust pizza because that's what I love the best - deep dish and thick crust! When you order a pizza here it is thin crust and the way the toppings are placed on it, it's like a work of art. Seriously. The taste is delicioso but I want thick crust! The calzones are marvelous! They're huge, crafted to perfection, and so delicioso that I'm looking right now for other words to describe it as well! I have allergies and they're really good about substitutions. They're just good people making good food and if they made a thick crust I'd give them five stars! Highly...
