We've been here many times over the years, and we've always had a great experience, but this last Tuesday will be our last.
The place was empty. Two female bartenders behind the bar, it appears one was cashing out, but it took them over 5 minutes to acknowledge us. We were standing at the bar.
Finally we got noticed and served. She didn't ask if we were going to eat, so I had to interrupt her again, and ask for menus. I told her politely we'd be sitting out side. After we finished our drinks (20 minutes) no one had come outside. Over that period two people came in. A total of four in the entire bar. I walked in and noticed the new bartender was being taught on how to pour a draft beer by a customer. After which she went back to looking at her cell phone. I had to ask if I could place an order of food.
We got our food, as they always have great food. We were asked if we wanted another round when we were served. We accepted. After 30 minutes, we finished, we sat and talked, but no one ever came back out to ask how was the meal, another round or are you ready for your check? So again, we had to go inside.
We witnessed the new bartender mostly on her cell phone. Never paying attention or engaging with customers. Just her friend at the bar. The place was empty, other than us and now two guys outside, who also had to come for more drinks. The owner actually walked by from the back and left.
We don't blame the bartender for the lack of quality service, just the owner. It's a hiring and training issue. This happened to us twice before about a couple of months ago, when someone new was hired. We had a four top, and had to always flag down the bartender for service. Perhaps spend more one-on-one time or the owner's friends come in on slow days to see how they handle your customers.
Years ago, the owner mostly was behind the bar, and man what amazing service. It's not the same. We wish you...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place, and gave it about half a dozen chances, but I’m unfortunately going to have to leave a negative review.
The selection of drinks and food is fine, but the portions of the food are ridiculous. We once ordered the 2 sliders option and there was barely any meat on it…maybe about the size of a quarter.
The Reuben was good, I’ll give them that!
I ordered a burger the other day, asked for tots as my side, and I received maybe 10 tots or less on a plate that could have accommodated a lot more. It was maybe a handful. This was a full-price burger, not a happy hour item or anything like that. The burger itself was good. The quality of the food is just fine. No complaints. It just seems that we get ripped off every single time on portion size, on one thing or another.
The staff is not very friendly. I don’t mean this to say that they’re rude, they’re just not actively being friendly. Placing an order feels more like being in line at the DMV versus at a pub. They also tend to help their friends/regulars more quickly than others. On one occasion, I had to wait about 10 minutes for them to run my card because the gal behind the bar stopped in the middle of it to help one of their friends/regulars.
The final straw was a recent growler fill. After getting home, I opened up the lid to see that they filled it up maybe a bit over halfway. At that point, of course, there’s nothing I can do. We won’t be going back, which is really unfortunate because we sincerely wanted to like the...
Read moreBull Mountain Bar & Grill is my neighborhood bar. I have been coming here since I moved to Tigard. I first discovered it when I was dropping my dog off at daycare. I noticed they had a patio and I called to see if it was dog friendly. Tina, who was the daytime bartender at the time, assured me they were very dog friendly, and they are! I brought my dog over and we sat on the patio and I enjoyed the best burger, ever! I had the best and friendliest service, ever! I have been returning regularly ever since. The owner, Mark, is a genuinely warm and inviting person. You can tell he loves his establishment. The staff is always top notch! When the staff changes, as it does in that industry, Mark and Sheena always find fantastic new bartenders. Martin in the kitchen is also a key player here. He’s the hardest working person in Tigard! I’m really glad I found this place! It’s the best...
