Monroe Street Diner — Restaurant in Toledo

I came in with my son for a peaceful breakfast. The lighting is really nice in the morning for a good breakfast.

I ordered "the most popular omelette". It came out and the potatoes were undercooked and and eggs were a bit over cooked and so I decided to order something different. The waitress took it back with no issue. Then, 3 minutes later the manager comes out with my plate I sent back and confronted me why I sent it back. To be honest, that is irrelevant. I sent it back because I wasn't happy with my order and I ordered something different. I could see her coming back if I wanted it remade so they could understand how to fix the order but I ordered two easy over and a side of bacon for my new order. The customer is always right IN MATTERS OF TASTE AND PREFERENCE. The confrontation just felt very gratuitous and accusatory.

It's unfortunate that this happened because it was our first visit here, which was actually rather pleasant until the manager came over.

We will continue to explore other diners where the management is less accusatory and more friendly and welcoming. As if me sending back an omelette is gonna break the bank. Gimme a break.

Non management service was excellent and the food was great after it was fixed.

They still charged me for the omelette even though I didn't eat it. We will likely go elsewhere until...

This diner is across the street from Kroger where we planned to shop. Since we are in a large rig we always need to find places that allow room for us to park. The diner was in a perfect spot, so we took advantage. And boy are we glad we did! The place is small with just a few tables and some bar seats. They are only open until 3pm, so be sure to get there before closing. They have a really great menu with lots of choices for breakfast & lunch, as well as desserts. Our server was Victoria. She did a super job. As a matter of fact everyone here is great. We enjoyed talking to them all. We had the garlic toast burgers, some fries and onion rings. Those burgers were unbelievable. That toast made the best “bun” ever. It’s like a combo grilled cheese and everything burger! Loved it. The onion rings were super as well. I ordered the #8 "crazy eight" Priced very cheaply for the amount of food you receive. I dont know if it was an off day, but the food had such a horrible aftertaste to it. Like they didn't clean the grill top, the eggs were mediocre, the bacon was overcooked, and crumbly. the pancakes were the worst with it having a burnt smoky taste to it. The coffee also tastes like it has not been cleaned out for a couple of days. It's probably one of the worst tasting breakfast places i have been to, to the point that not even 8 minutes after I left the place, my stomach started to ache and hurt. Other than the food, the service was great. The servers were very kind and helpful, and they made the place feel better. The restaurant has a good charm to it with a beautiful clean interior.
