Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Toledo

☘️🍀🍀☘️🍀 3rd Update: 3/17/2022 @6:45pm We went to Steak n Shake tonight, as my friend needed iron riched red meat. Since it was bought by new management, they no longer have waitresses. It's always clean inside. There is about 4 kiosk type computer screens which take both cash and credit cards. You place your order and pay and then you wait till your number is called and pick up your tray. Everything is self-serve now. Drinks, and napkins, straws and condiments. You even need to bus your table when you're done. I prefer the new way over the way it was before COVID. Definitely back to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ or shamrocks. My only nitpit items is related to their milkshakes, because you can't get all the flavors that they use to be known for, and my favorite is among the type that disappeared, the HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK CHOCOLATE milkshake is NO more. 😫 And that saddens me because their chocolate shake doesn't actually taste like chocolate at all. When Netty's opens I will stop getting shakes from Steak n Shake completely.

But other than the milkshake disappointment, the food is as good as ever and I don't have to request extra mustard anymore. Give they a try.

We were in tonight 1/1/2019 and used some coupons. Once we ordered food which included an order of onion rings to share besides our fries and 2 regular drinks with a double steak burger. The total for coupons went from 17.99 to 10.18. Our waitress brought our food with our sodas and the check and didn't show back up again till we were almost completely done with dinner. Our soda glasses had been empty for quite awhile. I would have liked a refill sooner. She did finally come to check on us but at that point my friend was done eating. I ordered a refill for the last bit of my meal.

Pretty much, what we both considered POOR SERVICE. Her tip reflected our unhappiness. It was not busy inside on this night 1/1/2019. Nothing to explain the lack of attentiveness from our waitress.

We went today to have lunch. Place was packed as usual, maybe more so because it was happy hour. Half priced milkshakes is the reason. I had the Hershey's Special dark milkshake which is my favorite. So much better than Sonic shakes because they seem to have issue with making them taste like chocolate. Steak 'n Shakes are so thick that they give you a spoon at the same time as the straw. My friend swore the strawberry one was better but not a fan of those. We both had the steak burger with bacon and cheese sandwich which is our go to. Great and tasty there to, my only small complaint is that lately I have had to request extra mustard because they either forget it entirely or there just a tiny amount of it. Last night me and my boyfriend thought steak and shake sounded good as we haven't been there in years. We went in around 10ish on a Saturday night. First we were sat and given drinks, the drive thru was pretty packed so our waiter told us that it's going to take a while because they are making the drive thru more of the priority. Which that was whatever me and my boyfriend weren't in a rush. Our order finally got taken and in the order I ordered an m&m milkshake. After about 45 mins we get our food with no shake. Also had to search for our own ketchup and seasoning because we were not given or asked if we wanted any. After about maybe 20mins and food is gone the waiter asked if everything was tasting okay even though everything was gone. Then my boyfriend asks for the shake and the waiter forgot to put it in the order at all. So our waiter adds the shake to the bill states the shake will be out soon. Me and my boyfriend watch people who even came in a significantly longer time after we came in and were getting 6 shakes at a time for some tables. We waited another full 45 mins and never got the shake, so we decided to leave. When I went up too pay the women who helps you pay your bill did not say hi, ask me how my food was or anything she just stares at me like she wants to be anywhere but there and I ask her to take of the shake as I did not receive mine and she doesn't say one word to me at all and I pay my bill. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences in a long time. Makes me realize why it's been so long since I've been here. Extremely rude. I was sitting in the drive thru for almost 15 mins being the 5th car in line, no big deal I get it restaurants get busy. But I noticed they was empty inside so I went inside to place my order for to go. I was in there for like almost 10 mins before being acknowledged by the 4 waitresses sitting at a table, looking in my direction but not making any movements to come to the register. I jokingly asked the cook if I came in on everyone's break time and then finally one of the waitresses came to the counter and I wasn't greeted and was rudely asked "what do you want" being as it's my first time here in years I asked to see a menu. After given the menu she walked back to the table and sat there for another 10 mins. A different waitresses came to the counter and started to mess with the computer for a few minutes and I'm just standing there and she looks at me and says " do you need help with something?" I said yeah I'd like to place an order. So I went on to place the order. When I got the food the just sat the bag of food in front of me and walked away forgetting my shake. So I told them hey I also ordered a shake with this they guy who looked like a manager rolled his eyes and said I know. Walked away. Waited for the shake for more than 5 mins after asking about it. That was also just sat in front of me, I tried to be nice and said "thanks have a good night " again Nothing in return, not even a nod. Like seriously what kind of service is that?
