Yellow Brick Ice Cream Carousel — Restaurant in Toms River

Local...been a customer since the 90's & live around the corner. These last few years I've seen a serious downturn in service. The often young staff used to be attentive and smiling and over-the-top courteous, but now the smiles are forced, the effort is uncaring if not dismissive, right down to whats become an obligatory eye roll if you change your mind at the last second...heaven forbid. I've always forgiven the ridiculously small indoor seating area, the dirty old restroom, the pesky bees that try to enjoy your ice cream with you in the al fresco seating area, the annoying and possibly illegal minimum order requirement if you want to pay with a credit card, but all that coupled with TWA-Teens With Attitudes- I cannot abide. Just look at me, not your cellphone; serve with a smile, don't complain silently with a nasty look on your face, it's a service industry job that you chose to work at, no? The ice cream always good, but never great, can be had elsewhere at many other establishments in the area without teenage girls showing their disdain for your patronage. I live within 5 minutes of the prestigious Yellow Brick Road and couldn’t be happier. I would like to consider myself a regular at the Carousel due to me showing up at-least once a week. The location is good, the service is great, and the ice cream itself is just spectacular. Their are several flavor options and theirs also a bunch of toppings. I highly recommend either the cookie dough or brookie dough ice cream with reeses cups as a topping. This one hits different and I get it just about every time I go. To add on to this amazing place, they even sell pizza and hot dogs!!! Yellow Brick Road is the place to be in Toms River and I hope that everyone realizes how crucial a place like this could be. We are not from the area but this place caught my eye as we were driving past. So we stopped in and picked up a pre-made ice cream cake out of their case to celebrate a family birthday.

This cake was fantastic! They offer both a small and a large round. After some thought I opted for the large one despite us only being 10 people. It proved to be the right decision because everyone wanted a second piece. (My advice is go bigger)

Their cake is better then a normal ice cream cake in every way. The quality of the ice cream, a surprise layer of regular vanilla cake, a thin layer of fudge AND the chocolate crunchies inside. Just MMMMMM
