Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Topeka

Of all the Dickey's restaurants I've been to, this one impressed me the most. We arrived on 3-24-17 @ 12:10pm and were greeted by very friendly staff even though they were swamped with customers and building to-go orders in the back. Our order was made quickly and correctly. We were very pleased.

My meat wasn't warm, more like room temp, as was the BBQ sauce, which was a let down. I LOVE when the BBQ sauce is nice and hot and I'm always worried about the meat when it's not warm. They were out of the serving cups for the BBQ sauce when I went up there but the lady working the register quickly filled them after I let her know they were out.

The restaurant, all the free tables and the bathrooms were clean and even though the ice cream wasn't fully frozen, it was still edible and good.

What impressed me the most though, was that once things calmed down, the lady working the register immediately came out to collect trays and started making sure everything was clean and stocked, but while doing that she also took the time to check on the customers she was near asking them if they needed refills on their drinks or sauce. Though she never approached our table, I still found her service to be above and beyond!

First time to this location & probably the last. I went at lunchtime. Most of the tables were dirty. Even though my table looked clean, it was sticky and I know why. I saw that lady cleaning was using same towel & just wiping and wiping without turning towel over or using any kind cleaner. It was just smearing the grease & stickiness. I could see it. Disgusting. Gross.

The soda syrup is not calibrated correctly & sodas tasted yucky. Waste of money buying a soda.

Ice cream was off too. I’ve never been to a Dickey’s where the ice cream didn’t taste like ice cream. This was all melty & not holding its form.

My sandwich was ok. I would’ve liked it better if it was warm. I had one sliver of onion on my sandwich. Why bother?

It was difficult getting paper towel from roll because no one had started it. I was trying to get it going & it was just tearing all up.

At this location, you have to ask for the onions & pickles. You have to be served them.

I have always liked thr bbq sauce at Dickey’s. At least this was the same.

DICKEYS WAS OUR GO TO BBQ TAKEOUT PLACE. We are seniors and share the three meat platter but tonighted i wanted extra turkey so this time I chose brisket and then ribs for two of the meats and also ordered half pound of turkey thinking we would have plenty left for a couple sandwiches tomorrow. As I was waiting i thought I would treat my dog that was along for the ride and asked if they'd sell 1 single rib and was told it would be 2.00 but then the manager refused to sell just one rib. No biggie , so on the ride home I slipped my pup one . Unfortunately when i got home i gave my hysband his two ribs only to realize the rib I'd saved for myself had no meat on it. If that wasn't bad enough the extra half pound of turkey i ordered didn't get us any more turkey than if I'd just ordered it as one of the three meats, so basically tonight's meal was almost 9 bucks extra for one extra rib. Next time I want BBQ to go we will have try...
