IHOP — Restaurant in Topeka

Went for the first time yesterday with my mom, my daughter and my son. The service was HORRIBLE. First, when we arrived we asked for a table and not a booth. There were plenty tables to sit at so we didn't think it would be that big of a deal. When the hostess sat us, she said sorry to the waitress for that area. Sorry like in an "I'm sorry I'm sitting them in your section" kind of way. But whatever. So the waitress seemed nice enough. We ordered our drinks, 2 sodas, a chocolate milk and a coffee. We had to ask for our silverware after 10 minutes of sitting down. So then we ordered our food. I ordered a Colorado omelette but asked for no shredded beef and hash browns for the side. My daughter ordered the waffle combo and my mom got a bacon omelette with toast and 2 sides of bacon. My little guy got mac and cheese. So anyways, some time passed and finally some food was brought out. My omelette was wrong because it had shredded beef on it so I sent it back. I didn't get the hash browns. My mom got her omelette but no toast and had to ask where her bacon was. The waitress then asked my daughter if she had ordered the pancake combo or the waffle combo. My daughter told her the waffle combo and the waitress said she put it in wrong so they would have to remake it. The waitress left and came back with my moms bacon. Well, half of it. The bacon wasn't fully cooked and there were only 2 pieces when she had ordered 4. So we sent it back. A manager came out and apologized to us for the mishap and said that she would comp my meal and my moms bacon. We told her that we were still waiting on the bacon and toast for my mom and my entire meal and my daughter's. So the manager goes and gets out food, finally bringing my moms toast and bacon and my daughters food. She goes to hand me my food, a Colorado omelette with SHREDDED BEEF on it. I was like seriously? I told the waitress twice now that I didn't want shredded beef on it and she still messed my order up. So the manager apologizes and says that it was her fault and I'm like, how was it your fault? I didn't give my order to you. Then the manager proceeded to ask me if I wanted to try for a 3rd time? Like, really? What did she think, that I just came to watch my family eat? I wanted my food. So I said yes and then asked again about my hashbrowns. Finally, the 3rd time was the charm, the waitress came back with my omelette the way I asked it to be made. But I again had to ask for my hashbrowns. The manager came back and comped all the meals so I just had to pay for my sons meal and all the drinks. Even though we were upset we were grateful that it was taken care of. So the waitress brings us the tickets and my moms ticket still had her food on it so I asked the waitress to bring us the correct ticket. She brings back a duplicate ticket. So it was whatever. We just paid. At that point we just wanted to get out of there. (Btw, our drinks were never refilled, not even once, and our plates were never cleared off the table while we were there.) As we walked up to the pay booth, another waitress asked our waitress if she was okay. Then the hostess asked her if she was okay. Seriously? In all of her screw ups we were never rude, loud or violent. We never demanded to be comped the food, the manager did that on her own. We didn't even complain about the waitress to the manager. We got crappy service and left there feeling like we never should have went and the waitress was being asked if SHE was okay? We will never go back. Ever. Stopped here the other day on our way through town. When we walked in the hostess stand was empty, we waited several minutes and still saw no staff out front at all. I decided to use the restroom while my boyfriend waited at the hostess stand. I used the restroom and came out and he was still waiting. There was now a waitress at a table but she wouldn't even look our direction. After another minute or so someone finally came out of the kitchen and sat us. At this time we were able to see there were ,5 other tables occupied, all but one already had food. We waited for our waitress and no one came over, the hostess now stood at the hostess stand and then a total of 5 wait staff were now out on the restaurant floor, two of which were standing at a table complaining about working long shifts. Still no one came to take our drink order or would even look our direction. We attempted several times to wave down a waitress and they just walked past us and back into the kitchen, several times i saw them just standing looking out into the restaurant. Meanwhile the two staff were still just standing at a table visiting, after they were done complaining about work the conversation turned to vacation plans. After waiting approximately 10 minutes we left. We still had not even had our drink order taken or any staff even acknowledge our presence. The hostess that had sat us was still standing at the podium as we walked out and just said have a good night like she didnt even realize she just sat us 10 minutes before and we never received any service. Changing to 1 star. This restaurant is going downhill. The last several times we have been here, they waiters seems only half interested in doing their job properly. We visited here last night because we really enjoy eating here. Our waitress was kind but only checked on us 1 time to refill beverages. We had a friend join us towards the end of our meal, after he received his food she didn't come back to check in on him or refill his drink. When our check came out I questioned the price, they charged us for 2 kids meals even though they advertise that kids eat free after 4:00, she told us that we have to ask for the free meals, they don't automatically apply that offer. So sneaky! There were no other people in the restaurant, just us, the staff took so long to clear tables from previous guests, some tables finally were cleared shortly before we left, they was no one there when we got there so I wonder how long the tables had been dirty. While we were there, a young couple came in and waited to be seated, they waited and waited, they looked through the menu while waiting, we could clearly hear people in the back laughing and talking and having a great time. Finally after about 10-15 minutes, I felt so bad for them just waiting, I went to the back and knocked on the door, the cook and the waitresses were just hanging out and messing around. I told them about this poor couple waiting to be seated, the lady apologized and went over to them. Lately the food seems to take a long time to come out and everyone seems to only half complete their job. We may try to go to the Ihop on Wannamaker because we enjoy the food but we I wish this Ihop would take...
