Had not been to a Perkins in years. I prefer buffets because if I'm going to spend appx $18+ tip I can't justify paying the same for endless options and eat all I want at a buffet for same price or less. Given this, I had the Meatloaf and it was exceptional; especially the gravy and grilled asparagus I chose as my dinner side. It came with mash and gravy. The mash was outstanding as well. Asparagus was best I have eaten anywhere. Meatloaf itself I would give an 8/10. For thr calorie conscious I was shocked the entire meal was appx 1,000 calories. I also added a dinner salad side for $1.19 which was fresh and good portion. Service was a 9/10. Portion size was decent for price and I l Ioved the rectangular serving plates they use. The only improvement they could do is to add low calorie salad dressing. However, I did have balsamic vinaigrette for my salad. I would say Perkins is 10X better than Denny's in every way and Ì will definitely start frequenting Perkins now. Keep up the great job your doing, and thank you for a great dining...
Read moreI went to the Perkins restaurant in Topeka on the 17th of January and was greeted by a very nice woman was seated by same woman I think her name is Laura she told us our server Chris would be right over to get our order. Then she came back asked us what we would like to drink and then told us our server Cindy would be over so we sat and waited and until the hostess told the manager that we still had not ordered so the manager came and started to take our order our waitress finally showed up and let me add they were not very busy at this time. We got our food in very good time however my hash browns were borderline burnt so when I told the server who brought out my food which again was not Cindy but Chris he told me that the cook doesn’t know if the customer wants crispy hash browns or not so they just put some on the plate he then brought me some fresh ones. So we finished our meal still not seeing Cindy our waitress the whole time I feel that this was a very un satisfactory visit and will not return to this particular...
Read moreI used to love this place. Now I just like it. One plus here is free piece of pie on Monday for lunch.
Food quality here is OK. Prices seem a little high. Today I got a chicken strips meal off the 55plus lunch menu. Strips were good, the mac and cheese was horrible, but I thought the side salad was great. The meal I got came with 2 sides and I actually chose salad for both sides and added a side for $1.69. I think that's pretty reasonable. And when they brought the salad out it was one large salad....and as mentioned I really liked it. The meal on the 55plus lunch menu was supposed to be $11 something and they charged me $14 something (full price) so watch your bill. When I asked they refunded $3.
My friends had breakfast and they said it was good. I've always thought the pancakes here were good. Server was a nice guy and did a good job other than charging me too much.
If you go here for lunch on Monday expect a wait...I guess old people (like me) will wait for a free...
