I usually prefer not to write reviews based off of service. This place is wonderful and a great idea. I don’t want it going anywhere!
Short review below:
The food here is always phenomenal, and I love this place—it’s such a great idea for Topeka. But the service this morning was disappointing. The young man at the counter was rude, giving eye rolls and short answers when I asked about new rolls and wait times for my favorite, the Chorizo Egg roll. Instead of being helpful, he seemed annoyed. Thankfully, the young woman working with him was polite and positive, but his attitude really stood out. I understand stress happens, but that kind of customer interaction can hurt a business long term.

The service this morning was below average. The heavy set (no offense) young man behind the counter was very rude. He would glare, roll his eyes, or behave otherwise rude in regards to simple questions I had. I love this place, but there were new rolls that I hadn't tried yet and was curious about them as well as wait times on the Chorizo Egg roll (which is my favorite). I asked questions about pricing for multiple rolls and instead of being helpful I recieved annoyed expressions, short answers. I believe anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, so I asked how their morning was going. I got no reply from the young man, but the nice young woman behind the counter was very charming and told me it had been very busy this morning. She was overall positive.
I understand being a little stressed or dealing with certain things on any given day. Though I believe this is probably not the response or attitude you should see and engage with if you want to have prolonged success as a restaurant in Topeka KS. Perhaps he shouldn't have been running the front counter if that's the attitude he will be presenting...
Read moreTerrible first experience, cold and terrible customer service. Two of us came in, talked to long curly hair dude, when we said we qernt ready he turned his back to us and just stood there with attitide. When we said ok we were ready to order he huffed and turned around. We ordered 5 different kolaches, me 3, her 2 . He gave us 1 bag with all of them in there. We asked if they were in separate bags so we could tell which ones were which. He took the bag and gestured with his hand like Vanna white that they written on the bag what they were, we said we know what we ordered but you can't tell which is which, and asked if he could tell he said no, and said we would like them bagged separately (the 2 sep orders) He was rude the whole time, grabbing a pen and another bag, rudely said just give me a moment, pen went flying down. My gf told him "nevermind, you are obviously stressed and are being rude" grabbed the bag, and we walked out. None of the kolaches were warm except my sausage egg and cheese. We couldn't tell 3 of them apart and I ended up eating one of hers. I have been talking about this place and been excited to take her to try them and this was her first experience. Very...
Read moreWe got 4 different breakfast kolaches. They were thrown loose into a bag together instead of individual wrappers, no way to tell them apart. Food wasn't hot at all. They had eggs in them. Speaking of the eggs, they were just like the eggs on hotel buffets. We also got 2 of the sweet ones. They were doughy and kind of bland but we're ok after microwaving. Also, you go up to a counter to order, they hand you a bag with your food in it at the counter, and if you pay with a card it asks for minimum 15% tip. No wait staff, just want to be tipped like a waiter or waitress. What's next,? 20% at taco bell drive through?. I tip servers and wait staff quite well, but being held hostage for at least 15% for a counter ordered and picked up order is robbery. I mean, if you do a counter pickup at dominos they tip you. I don't even like dominos but at least they...
