It is a smaller shop, and I have never seen it NOT busy. But for all that, the ENTIRE staff is wonderful! They have a very well oiled machine in getting orders out- and they have the donuts, hot and cold drinks and sandwiches; so there are many different stations going at once. Regardless if it was easter weekend or just a normal day, the counter staff has never been anything but friendly and attentive. They treat each customer as if they are the only person in the line and are willing to answer any questions and take exactly as much time as is needed to complete the transactions.
And this doesn't even cover the food itself. The breakfast sandwiches are so good, and they offer so many options for the meat, cheese and bagels. And the donuts? They are DIVINE!! The best that I have ever had. The prices of the donuts are competitive to other stores in the area, but the quality is beyond amazing and they are HUGE.
They offer many different pastries, along with monthly/seasonal flavors. For example, it was the middle of October at my visit yesterday. Some of the offerings they had were several types of bagels, large cinnamon rolls (some of which were decorated with halloween images in the frosting like spider webs) & donuts that were filled with bavarian cream but had the tops as either mummies or pumpkins. Some of the donut offerings were: pumpkin (seasonal); Strawberry Shortcake (powdered filled with strawberry jelly & white cream); coconut cream; red velvet; chocolate and vanilla cream filled; peanut topped; peanut butter filled; as well as speciality ones such as cookie dough and cannoli (which although not out, they offered to make a fresh one then and there for me).
I was a bit disappointed that they were out of chocolate croissants, but I totally get that they were currently unable to get the ingredient with the current shortages. But I do have to HIGHLY recommend the cheese ones- they are filled with a sweet cream cheese filling, and are...
Read moreIt's ok....when they have the donuts u want! They don't make all the donuts when they have "special" ones like conoli. Been there 4 days in a row now and still not able to get the one I want which is the cheese filled.
Ok new review... Went back today for the first time since my first review. This time even more displeased with Paulas donuts in Clarence! So there was a line because of covid which is very understandable. Staying six feet apart made it so some people had to wait out side until the line moved enough to stay the safe 6 feet apart. It was taking awhile because one customer at the counter at a time, which is also understandable . So I'm waiting about10 minutes now and a man decides to go outside with a card reader and proceeds to take orders from the people outside . He has 2 girls running in to get the orders. Needless to say, they are not having to wait like us who are inside. I waited 23 minutes to get 2 donuts while the people outside are flying home with there donuts in record time. Asked the man to take my order and he told me to go outside and wait at the end of his line.! Are you kidding me. He was so wrong! As I was leaving, People were pulling in and not even getting out of there car at that point. So wrong in...
Read moreI have had Paula's Donuts from two other locations (Tonawanda and Larkinville) and the donuts from there were always great. The Williamsville location is closer to where I live so I decided to go there with my sister who is visiting from out of town.
It was disappointing. The store is spacious with a nice seating area. I got a cinnamon donut that was okay. My sister got an apple fritter that was unlike any we had seen before: a soft donut like thing that seemed to be filled with canned apple pie filling and was difficult to eat without shooting the filling all over. I also got a peanut stick for my husband that didn't taste right. It had a lemon flavor and the peanut coating was very sparse. My husband wondered if whoever baked them showed up for work stoned because it was so different from the peanut sticks he gets at the Tonawanda location.
Also, we bought 2 beverages and this being Friday expected 2 of the donuts to be free. That is what the clerk rang up at first but then I paid said she needed to charge me for the peanut stick (I guess it isn't considered a donut?).
It cost me $13 everything and none of the food items was very good. But the...
