Simply put, this cozy, yet city-like seafood joint, never ever disappoints. Went last night with my wife for a date night, parked in rear lot no problems. We have frequented this joint over the years, both sit down and take-out (getting babysitters can be tough sometimes) and the owner obviously knows how to run a respectable and vibrant establishment. We like to either sit at the bar or the hi-tops behind it. As soon as we walk in, our eyes immediately move to the chalkboard with all the oyster selections. Last night featured around 7 oyster varieties from Long Island to PEIs, Pebble Beach, Massachusetts etc. We always like to ask our server (Rebecca was the absolute best), which ones stand out and she stated the Pink Moons. We proceeded to order two dozen total, sprinkling in all the varieties. It is heaven on earth here and when they deliver your trays, the convo immediately goes to whether it’s Mignonette or tartar and how much of a lemon squeeze. The absolute best. I told her if ‘Catch’ ever holds an Oyster eating competition , I want to enter…..and win! Our drinks were done to perfection. Filthy martini done perfect (stuffed olives amazing) for wife and Margs for me. We made sure to compliment the bartender. We shared the Soft Shell Crab sandwich for our entree. The taste brings us back to our Italian heritage growing up as kids. They even sprinkled bacon bits to go along w the regulars. Did not affect the taste one bit. Over the years we’ve had their soups, apps, fish dishes etc and I’m telling you, we eat all types of seafood and this place does it right. We highly recommend popping in here. Service is great, atmosphere right, and food/drinks made...
Read moreHad dinner at the restaurant tonight. I have to say, my husband and I are foodies. The place is small but cozy. We had a dozen oysters on the half shell. Imagine, they have 8 varieties of oysters for the half shelf. They vary from small to large, and by the salt content. There is a black board on the wall that tells you about the oysters they serve. The oysters come with 2 sauces-herb+vinegar, and cocktail sauce. The cocktail sauce come with fresh horseradish on top! Not that bottle sauce with vinegar, but fresh grated horseradish. I asked the bartender-Jensen-if they sell it, he said no, but gave us a small container of it free of charge. We also shared a cup of NE clam chowder. We both agreed that it was too thick and too much thyme was added to the soup. Otherwise, it was packed with clams and not salty at all. My husband had an Oyster Po'Boy sandwich and I had mussels in white wine. The husband said that the sandwich was okay. My mussels were wonderful -very tasty and the broth was just wonderful. I was stuffed by the time I finished the mussels, but I hated to leave the broth, so I soaked as much as I could with the bread. There was a couple of lady friends sitting next to us at the bar and one of them got a deliciously looking dish. When I asked her about it, she said it was the fresh catch of the day-red snapper-which she claimed was superb. It did look very good and it was a huge plate. Can't...
Read moreI recently dined at Catch Oyster Bar, and here's my review: The atmosphere at Catch Oyster Bar is pleasant, creating a nice dining experience. Our server, who also happened to be the bartender, was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The service was impressively quick, ensuring we were well taken care of. For starters, we tried the Fry Calamari, which was quite enjoyable. However, the highlight was the quick and efficient service. When it came to the main dishes, there were some hits and misses. The Lobster Roll left something to be desired as it was a bit bland. On the plus side, it came with a side of excellent Fries and an okay Coleslaw. The Blackened Fish Tacos lacked the spice and flavor one might expect, while the Shrimp Po Boy was good but unfortunately overcooked. In summary, Catch Oyster Bar offers a nice ambiance, a friendly server, and quick service. While some dishes missed the mark in terms of flavor, the overall experience was positive, thanks in part to the...
