If you are like me 🙋♀️ and reading reviews for where to eat in the Patchogue village area JUST STOP 👊🏻 you FOUND YOUR PLACE 😉💪🏻. With so many great choices in Patchogue (which I am sooo happpy and proud about as I used to have my life coaching office in the village from 2011-2016 and the town has grown so much since!!) you must check this place out 👍🏻👍🏻!! As someone 🥰 who tries to keep to an Atkins lifestyle 🥩 aka low carbing it, I had to break all rules here 😜!! Our server Gary was AWESOME, FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE and was the BEST in helping me decide 💯💯👏🏻👏🏻! My initial choice was going to be the white fish option but after staring at the pasta options and knowing my mom aka lunch date was getting the Papardelle I just couldn’t bear to be jealous 🤣 so I broke down and ordered the rigatoni with chicken and gorgonzola 😝. Let me say this if there was ever a reason to break my lo carb rule THIS WAS IT! 💃🏻💪🏻💪🏻!! This dish was SO FLAVORFUL 😍 and SOOO DARN good I kept eating and eating wayyyy passed my “uh-I’m full phase” but I just didn’t care, it was that good! And guess what I’D DO IT AGAIN!! 🤣 and if that wasn’t enough my mom (who loves chocolate lava cakes) had to order desert for us to share 🤪 🤷♀️. Needless to say I was stuffed AND it was SOOOO GOOD!! PS I had a Pinot Grigio as my beverage (because of course~ it was a Friday 😂👍🏻) and we had mussels as an app! Def check this place out! Next time I’ll try the white fish but def try the pastas!! Another on my list is the gnocchi 💖💪🏻💖💪🏻 DEF RECOMMEND...
Read moreWe’ve been coming to Locale for some time. The experience has always been good—a solid 6 out of 10, depending on what you order. We often start with a pizza as an appetizer, order some entrées, and maybe one pasta dish for sharing, depending on what everyone’s ordered.
On a recent Saturday night, it was obvious there were issues in the kitchen. Besides our server being less than engaging (I kind of wondered if we were doing her a favor by being there), the food took a while to come out. The Spartichoke pizza was less than we expected, and the entrées were also lacking. I ordered the Veal Saltimbocca, which came to the table as a piece of veal clearly cut into thirds and placed on the plate as medallions. My dining companions ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Crusted Salmon and the Orecchiette Baresi. Both dishes were not as expected based on previous experiences. Meh.
One of my companions, a transplanted Seattle native visiting from Kalispell, Montana (I say this to qualify what comes next—I mean, they DO have decent restaurants in both areas ;-) ), gave the meal a solid 3 out of 10.
All of this to say, on Long Island, we understand dining can be hit or miss, and often, the experiences are not consistent from visit to visit. This visit to Locale was probably our last. For the $120 (without any drinks), we can do better. And I’m writing this as a customer who went back again and again over the past...
Read moreMy husband and I ate at Locale a few days ago for a laid back date night and we were kind of underwhelmed. We had to wait for a table which is expected on a Friday night so we went to the bar to get a beer and glass of wine. $24 later....
We get seated and a busser/runner comes by the table with bread. He was tall, late 20's early 30's. I mention this because his response to my question to him would be expected from a teenager but not a grown adult. I asked him a question about one of the items on the menu and rather than know the answer (in my opinion all employees should know the menu at the restaurant they work at ) he said "you're server will be with you soon". No 'I don't have the answer to that but let me find out for you', nothing. Had to ask him later for bread, more water and our waitress who was MIA for quite awhile when we needed the check. She was nice and told us we should've flagged her down when she passed us if we needed her, but she never actually passed us.
Service aside... the food was good. I ordered a pizza with pepperoni and meatballs on it and I enjoyed it a lot. It was big so I brought half home. Hubby ordered the papperdelle bolognese and even though he said it was good, he did admit it wasn't delicious and he wouldn't come back for it. Between the service and underwhelming food, we most likely won't be back. But I know other people have great experiences here so...
