Chico's Tex Mex Setauket — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I really wanted to like this place - I had higher hopes based on all the great reviews. I usually order from a local restaurant in Port Jeff and I wanted to try something new. My group ordered a bunch of things off the menu and I honestly don’t think it was worth the money spent (keep in mind we ordered on Door Dash so everything was a few dollars more expensive)

-Everything was super salty, which we weren’t crazy about . We wonder if this was an attempt at more flavor? -I think the biggest thing we were all confused about was on the sides we received: We paid for salsa that was supposed to be pico de gallo, but it looked like it was poured straight out of the jar. The sour cream was basically ranch dressing, and our salsa verde was a weird creamy light green and had no taste? I don’t know if they ran out of the “good stuff” because it was the weekend but this was surprising and disappointing. -Guacamole was pretty good. -Burrito and bowl were okay, you get a ton of food but definitely more expensive than our usual place. -Tacos were fine - but you’re paying 2-3x the cost for something similar to Taco Bell.

We ordered through Door Dash, and our food arrived cold. I think this part was likely not on the restaurant though - it may have been on the Door Dash delivery person.

I’m sad to say we won’t be ordering from this place again. We’ll stick to our original place, as it’s definitely cheaper for...

Wow! The food is so good. The only thing better is the service. We headed over there after soccer practice because the kids were hungry. First of all I would like to start off by saying the place is immaculate. Not a chair at a place not a crumb on a table it was absolutely perfect

The paintings on the wall made my children laugh as they were expertly drawn and just full of color.

My son had a spicy chicken quesadillas. He said it was so good and full of chicken. Now typically my son eats fire so when I asked him if this was hot... He said no. The guy behind the the counter heard him say no and suggested he add spicy Joe's hot sauce. This really kicked it up a few notches in heat. I think this is his new favorite hot sauce. I have to be able to find out where to buy it from.

My daughter got three chicken tacos and this place lets you make them any way you want so she didn't have to have lettuce on them which makes her very happy.

I had three chicken tacos with lettuce and they were perfect. Loaded with chicken and just great taste all around.

This will become our new Taco place. The three of us have never eaten so...

I recently visited Tex Chicos Mex and had an incredible dining experience! I started with the dry rub wings, which were perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor—absolutely delicious.

Next, I tried the birria tacos, and they were nothing short of amazing. The tender, juicy meat paired with the rich, savory consommé made each bite unforgettable.

I also ordered a steak burrito, which was hearty, flavorful, and packed with perfectly cooked steak and fresh ingredients. It was generously portioned and so satisfying!

On top of the amazing food, our server, Allie, was outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience even better. Her great service was the cherry on top of a fantastic meal.
