DJ'S Clam Shack Stony Brook — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Best lil seafood place. Dine in (limited seating) or take out. During spring & summer months, grab a seafood take out and sit down at West Meadow Beach. Or during the cooler months sit in and order yourself some hot seafood bisque. DJ's Clam shack is clean, the kitchen is immaculate and so are the bathrooms. I dined in and ordered the cold lobster roll (they have a warm one as well), with a side of onion rings and cowboy sauce. 1st, the lobster roll was delish, the bun toasted perfectly (tasted great) lobster was fresh, claws and meat (not chopped) & gently seasoned. Onion rings were cooked perfect and with or without cowboy sauce were really good. Now the cowboy sauce... wow, really good stuff. It was so good, I dipped my delicious leftover bun in it and finished that. Crab cakes, I don't think there was any breading in them but double check me on that.... all crab... squeeze some lemon and so good. I was really really surprised how good the food was. I thought it was going to be a place where everything was deep fried. NOT THE CASE. The staff was courteous and very helpful. OMG!! I ALMOST FORGOT!!! THE KEYLIME TART!!! GET THE KEYLIME TART!!!! You won't be disappointed. It's soooooo good. So creamy and a butter cookie crust NOT graham cracker. I would go back just for that. This was my 1st visit. Going back for the clam's & calamari. It's a small parking lot in StonyBrook The best part of our two meals was the toasted bun. My wife had the warm lobster roll (Connecticut) and I had a warm shrimp sandwich with a garlic butter sauce. Zero care on the construction and the food was cool, not warm and hastily put together. From order to service was about 2 minutes. I get it. The place is not big and seating is limited so get them in and out quickly. This is not fine dining its a lobster roll and other hand foods.The lobster and shrimp were both overcooked and tough. This from what I understand is not the location reviewed by Guy Fiery on DDD. That location according to a Google search is in the FL. Keys. I thought that was a bit misleading but I was the one who interpreted that wrong. Please go there and choose for yourself. There are alot of great reviews and perhaps they had an off day. I will try it...

Tonight, I ordered the lobster roll via Uber Eats, it tasted pretty good, but my stomach did not agree afterwards.

Given that I spent $33 on my order, and another $14 on taxes and fees for Uber Eats, I was expecting for a fantastic dinner. As I opened the box, I was unfortunately disappointed by the small portions relative to the high price, and even more devastated by the way it made my stomach feel afterwards. I will say though, the food tasted good, and I enjoyed the 10 minutes of gobbling down the lobster roll. However, the hour that followed was incredibly painful, so much so that I could not finish the sweet potato fries (which I thought were alright, but not my type).

So after a drained wallet and a stomach in shambles, I will say this was not my favorite take...
