Not a fancy joint and can't even say it's my kind of vibe (I can appreciate some Pokemon/DBZ but everything else ceiling to floor is intense - no shade, it's passion and commitment!), but what does that matter if the food is solid.
Kind of set up like a typical Chinese Take-out place, it is very clean, well-organized, and there is plenty of seating with a clean bathroom.
It's a counter-service type, but the employees will still swing by and make sure things are good (then again, we were one of two tables so maybe it'd be different during a busier time). Friendly staff without being overbearing. Great!
The menu is simple, straightforward, and displayed on some screens at the counter. There are some solid and recognizable options to enjoy across Asian cuisines. There are also menu print-outs on basic pieces of paper. It could use a little "fine tuning" in graphic design to come off a little more established and professional, but again, little details when the food is the focus.
There is a nice selection of drinks - not cheap, but considering the specificity of the theme for some of them, it makes sense. We got a peach-flavored Buu-themed soda that tasted something between Ramuné and italian soda. Sweet, but not overly so! And some tap water that was supplied upon request.
We ordered the pho and a ramen with some fried chicken buns to share. Prices aren't low, but not too high either...more importantly, they're fair.
The broth for both noodles were pretty solid - lot's of flavor and clearly from hours of work. Nothing earth-shattering, but much better than many of the other places around Long Island that have opened up due to hype/popularity, so we were very happy. Portions could have been a tad bit bigger, such as with quality protein, but not lacking either.
Not entirely full, we ended up grabbing some more fried chicken buns to go. They could maybe use a little bit more "pizazz" with fresh cucumber/radish or interesting sauce, but overall, very juicy and spiced...and well, clearly we wanted more and was happy to pay!
We'd definitely go back in the area to get some staples and try something different. We also hope they continue to do well as this is a solid 4-star place and with just a little bit more work here and there, could easily be a 4.5...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant as I was picking up an order for someone (first time coming into this restaurant). My kids accompanied me as we were eager to see the inside as the establishment had a very cool anime theme which my son loves!! The restaurant was very clean (mentioning this for a reason) and I want to mention that besides my children and me and a couple that came in before us, there was no one else in the restaurant. I proceeded to the counter to pick up the order and was told it wasn’t ready, which was fine as it gave my kids the opportunity to take pictures and take in the scenery. I noticed one employee who was at the register was seemed to come near our vicinity, initially I didn’t think much of it as she has the right to walk around the establishment but it was the way she seemed to hover around my children and me and appeared to be watching us. This made things a little uncomfortable, when the food finally came out my son proceeded to the bathroom, so of course I waited for him, it was at this moment it was clear this staff member had eyes on us as she stood closely and just watched us, when my son came out the bathroom she followed us until we got to the door. As we were leaving my son took one last look at the anime characters in the display by the door and there she was standing and observing our every move, yet she didn’t have her eyes on the couple that was sitting down. As expressed this restaurant was very clean however, it appeared that she was wiping the areas where we were standing as if she thought we were dirty or something( not accusing just appeared that way)! I will never accuse anyone of being prejudice, racist etc; but it felt as if our skin tone and presence was not welcomed in this establishment. Prior to this experience I was excited and told the kids we would come back however after this experience. I will not be returning to a place where I don’t feel welcomed and followed around like I’m a criminal or dirty! Very displeasing experience for someone who has never eaten in this...
Read moreSooo…. Me and a Red were out shopping for a new chair… happen to be walking past Meet Noodle and took a look at their menu… wasn’t even ready to eat or anything but I saw they had Vietnamese spring rolls on the menu and I had some a long time ago that I really liked so I wanted to try some again. We went in and ordered a plate of shumai, gyoza and the Vietnamese spring rolls. All of it was fantastic… I only wish that we were ready for a full meal because their menu had so much stuff on it that I wanted to try. Prices were very reasonable, the whole place was super clean and the anime theme was a welcome change of pace to everything else out there… very fun vibe with great food and so much to look at while you are in there. Also I just want to say that I love a family run business… Kid behind the counter did a great job!… Glowing endorsement from my wife ( crazy red ) and I quote “ I would definitely come back here “ if you know her she’s a hard sell… so that’s definitely five star rating from...
