Strathmore Bagels — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Very upset about my service here today. I use to come here so I was excited to go for breakfast with a friend. I was told home fries don't come w my order when the menu clearly says "includes homefries, coffee, juice or tea" . They put my plate upside down on the dirty counter to write my order underneath it. and when I asked if my meal goes on the plate, she said yes. I asked for it to be put in a to go plate instead and she said ok. My food was brought out on the now dirty plate that was contaminated by the dirty counter. I was told that they will put it in a to go plate before I leave. After all of this, My French toast was not even fully cooked. Thank goodness I got coffee and apple juice because that was my breakfast. I don't think they are conscious of what they are doing with the plates but there's no excuse as to why I didnt get the to go plate originally as I asked. Long Island bagels will have to be my choice next time. So disappointed in the strathmore bagels of stony brook and my experience...

Walked three miles to get to this store (clearly not fast enough)

Arrived 5 mins before closing (doors are open, still within business hours) and I was greeted by a young woman behind the counter with a “oh sh!t” look.

She quickly proceeded to “defer” (the pleading please say we won’t help this person look) to another younger woman behind the counter. Then promptly turned to me and gave me a smug grin and said,”so sorry, we are closed”. Still 5 minutes before store closes.

All I wanted to do was to pick up a couple of bagels for my sons … was never even asked nor given a chance to provide my request. Nope.

The smug grin and empty “so sorry …” showed zero empathy or patron focused service. I told them politely I don’t feel they were being genuine and walked out.

I have been a weekly patron of this location for over 10 years and this was a bad enough experience that I needed to share with...

What's the point of placing an order online or over the phone if they're going to make you stand in their crazy long line with everyone else to pick it up. Every time I go and try to pick up an order I'm given an attitude like I'm disturbing them by placing my order ahead of time and trying to pick it up. No clear organization of where to stand after you order either, everyone just congregates around. Definitely safe during COVID.... Food is not worth the money being charged or the attitude you get from most of the staff. Unless you have 25 minutes to spare standing around to smell like you work there only to receive an attitude once serviced I suggest...
