My husband and I read that a new Afghan/Greek restaurant was coming to Patchogue and we were so excited. There are Greek places around, but no Afghan places nearby. We’ve tried different Mediterranean food but this one really stands out. We didn’t have any expectation and we were honestly blown away. I’m so happy that they opened this place up - this is such a great addition to the area.
We only managed to get a few photos bc we were so into the food.
Food: They gave us 2 green dips & pita - one made with red pepper and one with olive (like tapanade). Together they were great. They also gave us bolani kachaloo - which is a flat bread stuffed with potatoes and cilantro that came with a tangy dip. It was phenomenal. And for our main courses we got Kabuli Pulao (pilaf rice with caramelizada carrots and raisins) and lamb kebab and grilled potatoes and lemon with a yogurt-like dip. This was the dish I found out I came for. I didn’t know I needed it nor did I ever think ingredients could come together so wonderfully. It was beyond 10/10. I would come back for that rice alone. We also had baklava and cappuccinos - we were stuffed by then but it was also, as expected, great.
Service: Amazing family service - everyone we spoke to and even just saw were so warm and welcoming. Their smiles seem genuinely happy to be feeding us. I wish the business the best.
Atmosphere: Very cozy. It looks like it still has a lot of the old Greek decor. I personally would love to see more of the afghan side as well. Excited to see how...
Read moreThis establishment was fantastic. The flavor was amazing and what I’m most glad for is how close by they are to my home. Sam, who I believe is the owner’s son, was really friendly and accommodating and treated us with kindness and a ready smile.
We stopped by this place after reading about them in a Patch article that offered information about their establishment. Since we knew it was a newer locale, we were eager to give them a try. One important note is that the kind of cuisine they offer adds a flavor and a style that is not prominent in Patchogue, which diversifies the area. I love it!
When we arrived, they were overwhelmed so it took a minute to get service. Yet, they were apologetic since they were understaffed and, in the end, the meal was every bit worth the wait. The soup was delicious. The meat succulent. And the wine options very tasty! In fact, we had a conversation about some ideas I thought might be good for the restaurant as far as their bar and website are concerned (like doing a wine flight given their awesome dishes that could make for excellent spread platter accompaniments to wine) and he was totally receptive to the thought and get the bar area hopping with more customers. It’s refreshing to be in an establishment that is willing to have a dialogue with their patrons.
The establishment is nice, cozy, and inviting, and I highly recommend you give them an opportunity and try them out. I certainly will be coming back to have some...
Read moreWas looking foward to visiting this restaurant. What a disappointment. First the place is small but I have been to small places before. The service was slow very slow. I ordered a Lamb gyro and was given the platter which was $9.00 more. My wife order Greek salad with no tomatoes and grilled chicken. She was served Greek salad with tomatoes and no grilled chicken. She specifically asked for red onion and you guessed it no red onion. The server allow the plates to pile up on our small table to the point where we had no place for our plates. My plate was hanging off the table on to my fat shelf (good thing I still have it). My gyro was burnt and was not appetizing. Had to wait way to long for them to pay the check. Let's not forget the obnoxious music playing and the best part was the special entertainment that was provided. Yes the fire alarm went off not once, not twice but three yes three times while we were there. Scared half the patrons in the restaurant. Good thing no one had any medical issues because the constant flashing strobe light would have caused a seizure. No apology just a light hearted comment about keeping everyone on their toes. Way over priced...
