If I could give this restaurant more than five stars, I absolutely would! If you're looking for incredible food paired with warm, welcoming service that makes you feel like family, I highly recommend checking out Mazza.
We visited on the evening of Friday, July 18, as a party of four. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine hospitality. When I mentioned an issue with the metered parking outside, the gentleman at the front kindly offered us his own parking spot, so that we wouldn’t have to worry about the broken meters —an incredible and selfless gesture that truly set the tone for the evening!
We were seated promptly, and our drink orders were taken. When we inquired about the wine, they even offered us a tasting to make sure we liked it, which we did! Soon after, we were treated to a complimentary appetizer of hummus, olive tapenade, and fresh pitas, all of which were absolutely delicious. We devoured it quickly, and the staff noticed—bringing out another round without us even asking!
The gentleman who seated us also waited on our table, and he was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive throughout the night. He answered all of our questions about the menu and made us feel completely at home.
As for the food—every single dish was exceptional! Between the four of us, we enjoyed the lamb chops, Greek salad, grilled octopus, chicken souvlaki, and their sides of spinach and lemon potatoes. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
We were beyond impressed with both the service and the quality of the food. We can’t...
Read moreMy husband and I read that a new Afghan/Greek restaurant was coming to Patchogue and we were so excited. There are Greek places around, but no Afghan places nearby. We’ve tried different Mediterranean food but this one really stands out. We didn’t have any expectation and we were honestly blown away. I’m so happy that they opened this place up - this is such a great addition to the area.
We only managed to get a few photos bc we were so into the food.
Food: They gave us 2 green dips & pita - one made with red pepper and one with olive (like tapanade). Together they were great. They also gave us bolani kachaloo - which is a flat bread stuffed with potatoes and cilantro that came with a tangy dip. It was phenomenal. And for our main courses we got Kabuli Pulao (pilaf rice with caramelizada carrots and raisins) and lamb kebab and grilled potatoes and lemon with a yogurt-like dip. This was the dish I found out I came for. I didn’t know I needed it nor did I ever think ingredients could come together so wonderfully. It was beyond 10/10. I would come back for that rice alone. We also had baklava and cappuccinos - we were stuffed by then but it was also, as expected, great.
Service: Amazing family service - everyone we spoke to and even just saw were so warm and welcoming. Their smiles seem genuinely happy to be feeding us. I wish the business the best.
Atmosphere: Very cozy. It looks like it still has a lot of the old Greek decor. I personally would love to see more of the afghan side as well. Excited to see how...
Read moreMy spouse and I were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem, as discovering authentic ethnic cookery on the south-shore of Long Island is often amiss. Typically, a journey to the North Shore or even going into Nassau County is necessary!
We stepped into a rather smartly appointed little gallery and dining area only but a few steps past the shop entrance. Quickly, we were greeted by a personable young man, who introduced himself and goes by the name Samir (co-owner). We had a cheerful chat past mere pleasantries and were given suggestions from the Afghani side of the menu which appealed a bit more than the usual Greek heavy but often watered down pseudo Mediterranean offerings in most places who produce dishes from that side of the world. Shared first course(s) was the 1)Mantu (delicate dumplings with a filling of beef mince, aromatics and warm, eastern garam spices. 2)Borani Banjan: stewed aubergine (eppgplant) similar to Bangain Bharata but not exactly. Both were lovely
We shared the lamb Kebab dish on offer which came with a side of a most welcome spiced Basmati, bursting with warmth and tho the lamb lacked the grass-fed punch. We also shared an order of falafel which had a nice crisp and were pillowy in the middle but needed salt/seasoning and a perhaps a hint of acidity of acid (lemon juice). The overall experience was more than favourable as we left replete with good food and drink.
We highly recommend Mazza and will return for another visit. We wish them...
