I think this place is overrated, but I suppose if your alternatives were chain restaurants might be worth trying. I ended up ordering a burger because apparently that was the thing "that keeps them in business." It was OK. Didn't come with any toppings though. You had to ask for it. I asked for tomato, lettuce, onions. Our server repeated back lettuce, tomato, onion. I got lettuce and tomato.
This place doesn't split checks for you but we were told in beginning we could split payment between cards. At end of meal we told server what each of us ordered, he wrote it down, and still got the amounts wrong on the cards. When I asked about the extra charge on mine he had split the appetizers between everyone, although some didn't eat any and we told him what we wanted on each card. When I pointed this out he got defensive and made excuses like, "I can't remember what everyone ordered." I found this to be quite annoying.
I don't understand why the establishment doesn't do split checks. (There were 3 of us.) I feel like this places the burden on the customers to sort out payment between ourselves and put us in an inconvenient and maybe even awkward situation. I was there while on business trip with colleagues I don't normally eat out with and would really liked to have had the bill split to avoid all that who-pays-what hassle.
Anyway, I was willing to overlook the missing onion but the check business dampened my mood a bit. What I initially saw as a cozy dining area now just seemed small and cramped.
Perhaps on a different day my experience would have been better. Maybe I would not have cared to fuss over the bill and left satisfied. This was...
Read moreDined In with friends or family my previous two times here . Went solo today because I been wanting to go back . Sitting at the bar I realized how much of a local bar this is . The bartender knew everyone who came in. I believe his name was joe or John I can’t remember. Really nice guy & checks up on you regularly & gives you the best experience. I wouldn’t say I’m a local since I live 10-15 mins west but I plan on coming here more often because I’ve enjoyed all 3 experiences here . Okay onto the food .. 1900 burger doesn’t miss. The bacon is so crispy & compliments the delicious burger Perfectly. You have the option of Swiss cheddar or American to which I go with American . Each bite is super tasty. The fries are great as well, not your average shoestring fries like you’re used to but still great . Also had a French onion soup which was great as well. My only complaint is the coleslaw . It’s too watery for my liking . Feels like it’s drowning in it. Other than that I love this place a lot ....
Read moreI used to like this place but I don't know what happened. It's like the people don't want to be there. The older waitress was probably the rudest server I've ever experienced. My toddler spilled lemonade on herself and the waitress was mad I couldn't give her an order at that very second. She said "some of us can walk and chew gum at the same time." What a self important bag of bones. This place supposedly used to be a funeral home. Seems it hasn't changed much, they just serve food now. Pretty sure the waitress was a past customer. Add on that the food prices have increased to a laughably high amount and the food was either raw hamburger or dry pastrami, and you have a recipe for disaster. It's a shame that it has...
