UPDATE: Don't be fooled by the owner response. (They replied stating they were sorry, they can do better, etc. Now that I updated, I think their reply disappears.) I wasn't sure if I wanted to accept their offer but sent an email anyway. They never replied. I stand by what I said: The food was only ok and portions were small. I'll never go back.
ORIGINAL: Service is good. Atmosphere was fine. Food was meh. Hadn't been to Shake Shake in at least 6 years. It's not as I recall.
They had very minimal shake options. Confused why there's "shake" in their name when they offer only a few basic shakes. I got the Black & White which was supposed to be vanilla custard with fudge in the center. It was simply vanilla well-mixed with chocolate. I know this because the other person with me got a Chocolate shake. Mine tasted nearly identical to his, except a little less chocolatey. They also looked the same, except mine was slightly less brown. We ordered the bacon cheese fries. While they tasted excellent, SS was extremely stingy with the bacon and fries and it was not worth the extra $2.40. We both ordered the Smoke Shake burger. It was decent. I was surprised that it had a pink center and wasn't well-done as most restaurants prefer well-done.
Oh and they wanted me to tip the kid behind the counter for taking our order and bringing the meal, even though she's making at least $16/hr. Next time I want a burger with shake at $20-25/person, I'm going to Five Guys. Better food, better quantities and definitely superior...
Read moreI came in this afternoon with fiancé for a late lunch/early dinner before heading to a movie. It’s frustrating when you come in and no one is at the register so you automatically have to go to the kiosk to order. We ended up each getting a burger and a shake, and split fries and the fried pickle. Easy $50. It’s shake shack, it’s expensive and I anticipate the price when I come in. The issue began when we went to look for a table and the tables that were available were all dirty, from trash on it, to needing to be wiped off. There were also tables and chairs out of place. We ended up taking a booth and cleaning it ourselves. I don’t expect perfection, but 3pm on a Sunday doesn’t feel busy enough that the seating area should be that messy. Our food comes and everything looks fine. My fiancé opens his burger after a few bites to put the tomato back on, and what does he find? A hair. Gross. He walks it back up and asks for a new burger. He’s nicer than me. At this point it’s my last straw. Luckily I was able to speak to the manager and she refunded us for the one burger (feels tacky and cheap to give the refund for one burger considering there were way more issues and my appetite was lost). But for $50 dollars for all of these issues, it’s quite ridiculous. I absolutely won’t be...
Read moreI was excited to try this place as I never had shake shack before. Since this recently opened it was packed when my family arrived, but it only took about 5 minutes to make it to the front of the line. The staff there seemed a combination of friendly and exhausted, greeted us without a semblance of a smile, but did joke around with us. The wait for our food/shakes was about 10 minutes after that, not a bad wait time (especially with all the people). The burgers were good, flat patty to allow quicker cooking, condiments complimented the burger, fries came out nice and crispy on the outside while soft inside. The shakes were also good as we tried a variety among out group, all milk shakes. Though the experience overall was positive, i do think the burgers at five guys are better, and the fries at shake shack lack any distinct flavor that the seasoning at five guys provides. Even though some five guys locations offer milk shakes, shake shack has a better variety (though not on par with most icecream places). This is a good location for burger and shakes, but has close competition...
