Sonoma Grill - — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I finally got the opportunity to go back to Sonoma Grill. I say go back because our first time there was for an after party from a wedding we attended. I did not eat much then, just had a beer. We enjoyed it so much that I said to my wife that we have to come and try Sonoma for dinner.

So….. here’s my review!

We meet friends at Sonoma this past Monday. Toni was our waitress. Toni was spot on with her service, suggestions and personality. She took great care of us and made some awesome suggestions.

We were there for happy hour so I was very happy about the $5 draft beer as well as the other drink specials. And, Half price pizza!!!!

We started our dinner with the meat pizza! Oh baby I have to tell you, the pizza was amazing, delicious and sardine in size. The crust was so fluffy and crunchy as well. I really enjoyed this pizza and I’m a person who owns his own brick oven in my yard. So pizza is a big deal for me!

For dinner, our friend ordered the colossal grilled chicken wrap after seeing one go by our table. That thing caught all of our eyes!!!

My wife had the grilled chicken ( do not recall the name but check out my photos).

I ordered the shrimp parmigiana. I have just one word to describe this….. WOW! This dish was so delicious and plenty of huge shrimp. There were I think 8, I only ate 2 and decided these are worth taking home to enjoy another night as well. This dish was served with a side of pasta which was also delicious (as my mouth waters while writing).

5-10-25 update

Another awesome dinner here at Sonoma Grill! We have yet not to score here. We started with a round of drinks at the bar where the bartender was great. We got to our seats and were blessed with an amazing server tonight, Lindsey!!!! Lindsey was awesome and lots of fun as we were deciding on what to order.

Tonight I decided to go with the NY Strip steak at $32.99 +/- the steak was cooked perfectly rate and was delicious. I got this with a side of pasta too. (Don’t ask for extra $auce. Get the dollar sign, they charge for that, only negative) We also had a beautiful and delicious plate of nachos.

My mother in law got the delicious and awesome lobster ravioli!!!! My wife ordered the pasta belagio with sun-dried tomatoes!

And of course, you can’t forget dessert, that brownie Sunday puts you right to sleep!!!!! DELICIOUS!!!!!!

For dessert we ordered the brownie Sunday, yum. Our friends ordered the flourless chocolate cake which was so enjoyed!

I was put on by this place by my close friend. Definitely worth the visit. The first experience was with my friend who recommended it. The triangle mozzarella sticks were spot on. Had the perfect cheese pull too and the marinara sauce to add. I got myself the Pasta Monte Carlo. It reminded me of my old first car which was a Monte. That and the description on the menu alone was what made my decision. That dish was amazing and very filling. Such huge servings to which you are still satisfied with the meal and glad you could take some of it back with you to have leftovers. Totally would have that dish again.

The second visit was with another friend. Had to get those mozzarella triangles once more and still great. The atmosphere on this second visit was a bit much only because the singer at the place was just a bit too loud for me to talk with my friend. Could've put down his volume a bit. We had one of their price fix menu specials which came with an entree, salad, and dessert. The steak marsala is what I chose. The salad was quite big and fresh tasting. The steak marsala was pretty good, but not as good as my first visit dish. Just of a personal preference. The servings were once again huge. Even for the salad. I was so full, I had to bring the dish and dessert back home. Returned home and had the cannoli dessert dish. That cannoli was amazing. My husband and I used to come here often, for years (even back when they were in Holbrook). We finally got a chance to come back since covid. We purchased a certificate from Local Flavor and followed all the rules (dine in only, no Sundays). We ordered our food and drinks to find out later that they are not honoring the Local Flavor certificate I just purchased. To this day they are STILL selling the certificates on Local Flavor and STILL not honoring them. Management claims they will honor the certificates when they are at 100% capacity, which most likely won't happen for a very long time.

Not for nothing but this restaurant closed down completely for 3 months during covid, while many other restaurants and food establishments remained open offering new services out of their norm to help service their community in any way they can. Those businesses were the heros, Sonoma Grill was not. They are poorly run and management handled this pandemic poorly. Instead of staying open offering delivery, curbside, meal kits, etc., they closed for 3 months and became irrelevant because if it. (They finally opened for curbside 1 week prior to when the state allowed restaurants indoor dining to open back up)
