The lemon bars and raspberry bars are incredible. Besides the bakery, they also sell breakfast sandwiches, burgers, soup/chili, and lunch sandwiches. Finding the place for the first time might prove difficult if you don't know the neighborhood. To reach it, proceed North on Knowell Road from West Genesee. After crossing the railroad tracks and Milton Ave, take the first left into a parking lot. The Mixing Bowl is to the right. UPDATE-1: The take-out quiche Lorraine was a very good breakfast. As far as the Christmas cookies go, I wasn't a fan of the frosted cookies, but I enjoyed the macaroons and thumb prints. UPDATE-2: Their fried egg, crispy bacon, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a toasted brioche roll is outstanding. It's definitely worth a stop. You won't be disappointed. UPDATE-3: Their large brownie has a crispy surface and a fudgy interior. Yum! UPDATE-4: I've been enjoying their breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a regular basis, but this morning decided to try it with sausage. It's not for me. The seasoning of the sausage patty seems to be Italian rather than standard breakfast sausage. So, I'll happily stick with the crispy, tasty bacon in the future. UPDATE-5: For my first lunch here, I ordered a smashburger. Like the breakfast sandwich, the burger was excellent. UPDATE-6: Still serving great bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches. UPDATE-7: In the summer, they have tables outside in the shade to enjoy your meal. Very pleasant! UPDATE-8: They no longer cook eggs to order for breakfast sandwiches. All eggs are cooked over hard. This is disappointing for those who like a little runny yolk to moisten...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have recently started to come to the mixing bowl. Food is great! I hope they continue to expand their menu and offer more options on sandwiches than just grilled chicken or pork belly. Or have more options to build your own sandwich. Breakfast sandwiches and smash burgers are good! But... The issue we had is that one of our party has a severe nut allergy. When we first went to the store, we spoke with the owner, and she said they take extra precautions to prevent cross contamination during the preparation and baking process. When my girlfriend and I stopped into the store today, however, we watched as an employee went through several cookie jars and other baked items without changing her gloves. Because the store offers peanut butter cookies, the employee has just cross contaminated half of the baked goods by not changing the gloves. This can be very serious to individuals with allergies. The store also had peanut butter muffins and other goods in close proximity to and / or touching other baked goods. I know trying to cater to all different allergens is almost impossible. However, we liked coming to the store because it is hard to find a bakery that takes the extra time to prevent cross contamination. After seeing what that employee had done, we no longer felt safe purchasing goods from the bakery...
Read moreThe Mixing Bowl has mastered the art of simplicity. We couldn't decide on breakfast or lunch so we split one of each - the breakfast burrito and the jalapeno popper burger. The burrito was served piping hot. The contents were simple but every detail was thought out. A grilled tortilla encased a saucy egg, meat, veg, and cheese mixture that dripped with a homemade chipotle mayo. You can garnish with an assortment of craft hot sauces. It is an absolute must try! The jalapeno popper burger is thin, caramelized, and everything you want from a smash patty. The flavors are beautiful, toppings fresh, and the jalapeno popper sauce is incredible but the pièce de rÊsistance is the pillowy, soft bun holding the whole sandwich together. This is a place where affordability, creativity & quality meet. Every bite was savored and we will be back to try the rest of the menu. Not to mention, we were waited by a commendably pleasant and...
