The food is delicious - made fresh and they accommodate one’s spice levels. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous. The chicken curry, chicken fry, beef fry are outstanding. The fish curry is way too spicy - I ordered sone last time and after they added extra coconut milk, it was great. They didn’t do the same today unfortunately, and it was uncomfortably spicy. I cannot even take a spoon of the fish curry. Besides using less chilly powder, the only other thing I would ask for, is that they provide rice with each dish (like most Chinese do) or a naan/roti/paratha.
I have to edit here. My family was really excited when we heard there was going to be a buffet and an eat-in place. Read moreSalkara is hands down the best Kerala restaurant I’ve visited in the U.S. It’s been nearly two years since I moved here, and while I’ve tried many Indian restaurants, nothing has come close to the biriyani at Salkara. It instantly transported me back to the authentic Thalassery biriyani I used to enjoy back home.
The portion sizes were generous, and every dish we tried was packed with flavor. The kebabs were delicious, and the Indian breads—especially the all-time favorite Kerala Porotta—were perfectly made. Soft, flaky, and just the way they should be.
Keep up the great work, Salkara team. You’ve truly brought a slice of Kerala...
