So today as soon as I took lunch break I called up Smashburger to order ahead so I can maximize my time . I ordered a burger with no cheese because I am allergic to dairy which I made very clear over the phone. The cashier understood and noted this on my receipt. However when I walked in 10 minutes later without a mask on they rudely asked me to leave several times and to order online, I told him I did not have a mask because it was to my understanding New York State had lifted the mask mandate however I did order online and I was simply picking up. They asked me to sit at a table while the food was made. Another 15 minutes went by and finally my burger came out with cheese on it so I asked them if they could remake it properly he said it would be another 15 to 20 minutes so all in all it would have taken this particular store 50 minutes to make me one simple burger. I told him I did not have time in my lunch break and then I would just like a refund the manager came out and gave me eight dollars back but my meal was 14 and change so I told the manager that that was not the correct change he went back to the cash drawer handed me $15 and said get out of here…. The order even sat for a minute until the counter guy could stop prepping napkins to pack my stuff.... and what was in my bag? No napkins. Sigh. Fries were ok.... could have cooked another minute. I might give them another try... Next try today (3/7/22) Ok so another try at Smashburger and this time it was much better. My cheeseburger was good, the fish sandwich was fresh and the sweet potato fries were crunchy. I actually received ketchup and napkins this time…. The shake machine was down, except I didn’t find that out until the Uber Eats driver got here and notified me, the more professional way to go about this would have been to call me, and say “I’m very sorry sir our shake machine is down, is there anything we could replace this with to satisfy your order today?” Instead nobody told me anything and I essentially got robbed for half my order. And I’m sure everyone knows Uber Eats jacks up the price with all sorts of charges/taxes as it is. This could have been handled better.
