I have had food from Anthony’s Catering Hall which is owned and operated by the same owner and the food was always delicious. Hence, I decided to try takeout from Pizza Village, same owner same location. I spent $72 on my favorite foods to not only be disappointed by the taste but also dismissed and ignored by the owner Anthony. As soon as I tasted the food and realize that it did not taste good I called the restaurant immediately. I politely explained what the issue was.The eggplant rotini was very salty and flavorless, the fettuccine alfredo was bland, no taste, no flavor, and the salad was full of chickpeas but nothing else, the chicken parmesan sub was salty and flavorless and of the two slices of pizza one was burnt. We had grabbed them cold when we arrived just to avoid what occurred. They even managed to screw up the wings! The female that I spoke to was polite but put me on hold several times and said that the cook for the catering hall isn’t the same cook for the pizza shop. She said that “her boss” told her to offer me $5 off my next order. I told her that wasn’t acceptable and offered to return the food for a partial refund. She then gave me the phone number of the owner and said to call him. I called immediately after hanging up from her and the call went to voicemail, I did leave a message. One week later I’m still waiting for a return call from the owner. I waited one week before leaving this review because I had hopes of hearing back from Anthony and faith that he would rectify the issues. I had read other negative reviews where he said to the ex-customers numerous times“I wished that you would’ve called me before leaving a negative review.” If you can’t afford the chef that cooks for catered events why must the consumer suffer? Being inconsistent with the quality of your food is not good for business. I will NEVER spend another penny in either of your establishments. Shame on you Anthony for being dishonest, dismissive, deceptive, disrespectful and...
Read moreUntil I moved away, this was my preferred restaurant of choice. Ive been a weekly customer for 30 years, and have seen it through thick and thin. There were a lot of unwanted and unliked changes when ownership changed hands a while ago. I miss the old booths, I miss the old prices, and I miss the difference in atmosphere from the two sides of Pizza Village. You used to be able to choose either the restaurant side for a longer more official meal, or the quick hangout side where you could grab a slice and play some classic arcade machines. Now the two sides are very similar. I also dislike the fact that the quick side replaced the fish tank(always a hit with the kids) and added a TV. The TV just feels wrong and out of place.
I could very well be going completely off nostalgia, but nevertheless, I miss those things that gave Pizza Village its character.
On the positive side... They kept the old recipes from the previous owner, and offer a killer pasta sauce! The pizza is very unique, and maybe not for everyone, you can appreciate its flavor. There has also been an expansion of the menu, with more options for people who don't want pizza or pasta. Their salads have improved greatly over the years.
Portions are very good, I would say too good. I would probably prefer smaller portions at lesser prices.
Kudos for keeping the iconic Peter Wing original paintings on...
Read moreThe pasta dishes are good, but the people on the phone are beyond rude. No happiness in their voice and they never tell you your total on the phone. Today I ordered tortellini Alfredo, fettuccini Alfredo and a kids chicken parm total came to $45. We get it and there’s 3 slices of plain bread with it. There is always 2 loafs of garlic bread , we order this weekly and I am the only person who orders the food in our house so I know it comes with 2 loafs. I call to ask and the girl tells me it must be garlic bread, I explain to her it is literally plain and 3 slices it always comes with 2 loafs. She argues with me and tells me previously you must’ve asked for more, I told her no I would know too cause I order this weekly and never ask. Needless to say I hung up very displeased. We spend a ton of money here as we order weekly and I will NEVER order here again after her rudeness. I’ll order from tiramisu for this and pay half and get way better customer service, I’ll just have to go get it but it’s worth it not to give this place anymore of my money. For pizza they’re awful. Order your pizza at little jozefs it’s consistent because the owner is the only one making it and they are the sweetest and nicest people. They’re pizza is...
