The Hampton Chutney Co. is a true staple of the Hamptons.. They’ve been serving consistently awesome food for over a decade in the heart of downtown Amagansett.. So many lovely food and drink options here.. I stopped in with my family yesterday while passing through town and we caught them just before they closed.. The staff was absolutely welcoming and friendly.. The decor is just as warm and inviting as it always was.. I haven’t eaten there for several years and this was my children’s first introduction to their famous dosas.. We ordered two dosas, a selection of their chutneys (at 50 cents each I suggest you try them all!!) and the dahl soup.. Everything was fantastic!! We skipped the mango lassi (a delicious traditional Indian yoghurt smoothie) that we usually get, but if you’ve never had one you should definitely try it!! If you’re into caffeinated beverages you can’t go wrong with the many chai and coffee drinks that they offer.. My personal favorite is the cardamom coffee.. Read moreHANDS DOWN my one of my favorite places to eat on the East End. My go-to order is the Breakfast Dosa with egg whites, avocado and tomato chutney. Crispy please. And a large Cardamom coffee. Amazing! My daughter loves the kids breakfast dosa with egg whites, avocado and cilantro chutney - with a mango lassi on the side. My mom loves them too (picture to prove it). Insider tip - if ordering a Dosa to go, ask to have it as a Uttapam - it travels better. When asked, I always request gift certificates from the Chutney for my birthday or for Christmas. And I enjoy giving them to my friends, family, and clients. I love the real, natural, and healthy food that they serve and I just keep coming back for more. Forget 5 Stars. This is at least 6 Stars! Thank you Hampton Chutney for making my life...
Read moreOkay, there are dosas, and then there are dosas. I literally can not believe the quality, and flavor, of Hampton Chutney's dosas. It is really tough to find good Indian food outside of New York City, well here it is on Newtown Lane in East Hampton, and it was so worth the trip. The ingredients are really fresh, the staff was super friendly and the food was incredible. Tried both the number six masala deluxe with spiced potatoes, spinach, roast tomato and jack cheese as well as the number five with chicken, avocado, fresh tomato, arugula, and jack cheese. Both were out of this world. The mango chutney: literally amazing. The flavors were well balanced and not overpowering, perfect. The Long Island Railroad train station is a half block away, I'm thinking of taking a train ride...
