I want to start by saying we love Jackās Restaurant and have been loyal customers since they first opened, itās our go to place in town. The food and customer service are always top notch and its very family friendly. With that said, Iām actually writing this review in response to a past review. I would like to sincerely thank Shane and the entire Jackās staff for coming to my childās defense. I am the mother and was part of theā loud partyā the reviewer was speaking of. First let me start by stating the āloud partyā consisted of myself, my 7 yr old son, my mother and sister, (3 adults & 1 child), so I do not consider ourselves a āloud partyā. I am very mindful of going to dinner with a child and big on respecting other customers. I try and attend family friendly restaurants, request to sit in an area that will not disturb others and when possible, go at earlier times. I am also VERY mindful of the volume on my childās tablet. In the instance the gentleman is referring to, is the time my 7 yr old turned his Ipad on and had time to hit the volume button. My sister could tell the lady at the table next to us was upset by the initial volume, so she ensured my son made the volume extra low, so as not to further disrupt their evening. With that the woman turned to me and asked had I never heard of headphones, I responded with we noticed the volume bothered you and told my son to lower it, which he did, so let it go, she began to berate me and my son on how allowing my child to have his iPad at the table, is whatās wrong with the world today and telling me how I should raise him. With this her husband began to chime in, I told them both, they had no right to tell me how to raise my child and it was like 5:30 on a Wednesday evening, and I requested a table in the back, as to not bother other customers, to please leave us alone and they were scaring my son and if we annoyed them that much they could move, with that he stood up and began to raise he voice louder and yell that this whole situation is actually the restaurants fault for allowing children and opened his walking stick by slamming it on the ground towards us, and yelled they are leaving. With that another table with three children asked for their check and food be wrapped, as the gentleman, scared their children too. Our waitress came over, followed by Shane, enquiring what took place and could see how shaken up my son was and the children at the other table. I am sincerely thankful for Shane's response of asking the customer not to return, as they are a family friendly restaurant, and cannot have any customer, young or old, made to feel frightened or uncomfortable, and coming to our defense when being berated by two unknown adults. Shane may not have been present for the altercation (with a 7yr old) but the whole back of the restaurant was and could attest to how completely out of control and over the top this couple was and how no one has the right to reprimand or say anything to someone elseās child. As stated above, we have always loved Jackās but that day put them in a league of their own in my eyes. Its not always you find a true and genuine person who puts the needs and security of your child before their own pockets and thatās what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSadly, this is not going to be a positive review. I say āsadlyā because we have been good customers since the place first opened. We have enjoyed it, and even recommended it. However, last week we had a customer service encounter with a manager that was so disappointing that we have no plans of returning. Here is the story:
We normally sat in the back during evening hours, where it is a little quieter. On this night, a rather loud party was seated next to us, after we had already ordered. By the time our food started to come out, we had actually had a confrontation with the rather rude adults in that loud party, who apparently hold that it is perfectly normal and acceptable to allow their child to disturb those around them by playing video games out loud on their tablet.
We ended up leaving, very upset. However, after talking it over outside, I returned to pay for the food and drinks we had ordered, even though we had not had an opportunity to eat even a bite of our dinners. The party next to us had ruined the experience for us. But we intended to come back and continue our patronage another time. However, those plans changed when I was met at the door by the manager. His response to me asking how much we owed was to berate me for daring to ātell someone else how to raise their child.ā So interested he was in correcting my behavior that I had to ask him a second time how much I owed.
This manager was not present when the altercation occurred. In fact, had staff been there to ask that the child not disturb other guests, this probably wouldnāt have happened. So he, in fact, did not know what we had said, how we said it, or what warranted it being said in the first place. And, in my view, the manager could very easily have just taken my money and made some sort of half-hearted apology that we didnāt enjoy our experience as much as usual. The other party was nowhere around this conversation. Taking sides was completely unnecessary.
I am standing there, trying to do the right thing by his business and his staff, and he is essentially telling me that Iām the bad guy because my wife asked the adults if the volume could be lowered on the childās device, and I backed her up when the adults were rude and obnoxious.
And there wasnāt even an offer to wrap the food up. When I finally got the amount, it was $73.00. I gave him a $100 bill and told him to give the change to our server.
They lost a good and loyal customer, because there are other places in this area that actually appreciate that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy entire family absolutely love coming to Jacks and if you havenāt tried it out you need to go! The owner, bartenders, and the entire staff always make you feel incredibly welcome. The chef is incredible, they always have a big assortment from brick oven pizza to modern Irish cuisine and everything in between. The cocktails are always delicious and they change up different cocktails for the seasons. We decided to come here for brunch this past weekend, and there was such a great selection and even an option for a bottomless brunch for $39! Coming from nyc, thatās unheard of especially getting quality meals each just as delicious as the next. We chose the full Irish breakfast, the boss omelette, chicken and homemade biscuits, and the creme brĆ»lĆ©e french toast. But honestly you couldnāt go wrong with any selection, everyone throughly enjoyed their meals and thereās plenty of other options to chose from next time! The entire bar and restaurant is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Make sure to stop by for lunch, brunch, or dinner...
