This weekend I had the pleasure of dining at Caza Mezcal in Painted Post, NY — a local Mexican gem that continues to impress. The evening started with a vibrant shrimp ceviche: colorful, zesty, and generously portioned. The fresh shrimp was tossed with diced veggies, citrus, and topped with creamy slices of avocado and fresh cilantro. It was bright, refreshing, and a great start to the meal.

Next up was the bold and flavorful Camarones a la Diabla. This dish brought the heat! Plump, juicy shrimp were smothered in a rich, fiery red sauce that hit just the right balance between spice and flavor. Served with a side of Mexican rice, crisp lettuce, sour cream, and a juicy slice of tomato, it made for a satisfying and hearty main course.

And let’s talk about dessert — the flan 🍮 was outstanding. Creamy and silky with a rich chocolate-coffee drizzle, it had a deep, indulgent flavor and a light whipped topping. A must-try if you love traditional desserts with a twist.

Service was quick, and while I was disappointed they were out of horchata, the delicious dishes more than made up for it. Highly recommend Caza Mezcal for a cozy dinner packed with...

DO NOT GET FOOD FOR YOUR KIDS HERE! Extremely upset with the kids portions. Two chicken tenders and less than a handful of fries is not cool. Tenders are dark from dirty fryer oil. Was charged 2x To go fees. Chips were stale. I also did not get the chicken enchilada with the combo gordo. When confronted, staff just said that's the way it is. So now I have to go buy my children dinner elsewhere. Not a family friendly atmosphere and unfriendly staff. And this is not my first negative experience. The last time we sat down inside the restaurant they ignored our family and continuously served us last or not at all.

To the Owner: The tenders were small and of poor quality. I did not get the enchilada with the combo at all. The chips were stale. And it was obvious that the fryer grease is dirty. I work in kitchens and understand costs. You need to rethink your children's menu and how much is your savings on the amount of fries? You lost our family as customers.... Will not come back. Also the cheese is wrong and the poblano is a poor excuse for a chili relleno, needs to be dipped in the egg batter. Do better. The bar alone...

Casa Mezcal Selecto is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a welcoming atmosphere that perfectly blends modern style with authentic Mexican charm. The staff is attentive, friendly, and truly makes you feel like family/a guest rather than just a customer !! The food is nothing short of outstanding. Every dish is fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor clearly crafted with care and high quality ingredients. The mezcal selection is impressive, offering both familiar favorites and unique bottles you won't find just anywhere. Pairing one of their signature cocktails with a plate of tacos or a traditional entrée makes for an experience that's hard to beat. What really stands out is the balance Casa Mezcal Selecto strikes it's elevated enough for a special night out, yet relaxed and comfortable enough to become your go-to spot. It's rare to find a place where every bite, sip, and detail feels so thoughtfully put together !! Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy authentic flavors, excellent drinks, and top-notch...

Wifey loves Mexican food. Since this place is near the hotel that we’re staying at we figured we would give it a try. Service was great! The waitress was super patient and friendly with us as it was our first time here. She recommended the street tacos - which we ordered. The street tacos were tasty. Got the al pastor and the carnitas. The order came with 4 tacos in total some rice and some beans. Absolutely loved the tacos! Also ordered the street corn and that was okay. I don’t think it’s worth the $7. Overall the food and service was excellent. It was busy during dinner hours. But we were seated right away and was able to order right away as well. Wouldn’t mind coming back if in the area again.
