I was VERY disappointed with the food I was served the last two times I ate at Denny's in Appleton! The turkey dinner, (not a senior portion), had half the portion of turkey shown in the picture on the menu, the dressing looked and tasted like they took a bag of bread crumbs and added water, NO sage and onion taste! Previous meals had dressing that had the look and taste of "home made", with onion, celery, sage and turkey broth flavoring, nice and fluffy and moist, not dry and tastless. This last visit, I ordered the grilled Haddock with mashed potatoes and paid extra for broccoli (which is rediculous, since every other restraunt in Appleton included broccoli as a side choice FREE)! Well, first I had to wait 20 minutes to get my food AFTER I finished my soup (I asked my waitress to put my order in when I was almost finished my soup, as several times my main meal came before I was finished with my soup or salad forced me to rush to eat, instead of enjoying my food!). Them when I finally got my meal, the Haddock was over cooked and dry, the mashed potatoes tasted funny ( a little "off") and the broccolis was barely cooked, some pieces even cold, and there was about 4 small pieces in a small bowel! When I notified the waitress, she took it back and brought out another bowl with 5 small pieces only warm, not hot like when fresh cooked! For this, I paid extra???!!! The only thing I enjoyed was the chicken noodle soup!!!! The manager offered to have another meal made, buy because I had to wait so long to get my meal after I finished my soup, I didn't have time to wait, as I had to leave for work!!! Do I ate the lukewarm broccoli and dry fish ( they forgot to put tartar sauce on the plate, but I was in a hurry.I took only a couple bites of the potatoes and left the rest. The manager still charged me full price for a very unsatisfactory meal I had to wait 20 minutes to get! This was around 2:00 pm and the restraunt was NOT very busy at that time. Needless to say, I was a very unhappy customer. I eat at Denny's at least once every 10 days or so, and usually the good is good and the portions worth the price, but the last few times, neither the food or service...
Read moreStopped in after quite a while due to a bad experience previously. The place was half full and were seated immediately. After a bit of time the waitress arrived and took our order. She did bring our beverages and we then waited for our food. As we watched all the orders being brought to other tables we became concerned as people who ordered after us were receiving their orders. We called the waitress over and asked if our order had been lost as we have now waited over 40 minutes for our breakfast. Her answer was "I don't know what he is doing back there" and left as I heard her yell back to the cook where is my order? She they proceeded to bring us our french toast and crepes without our eggs/bacon/sausage (the rest of the meal) stating that she'll bring it when it is done. Needless to say 1/2 of a breakfast order - that was cold - is no the the type of breakfast my husband and I wanted. We did not want to eat our breakfast in shifts with the first half cold and still waiting for the remainder. In talking to our waitress we asked to speak to management. The management came over and we explained our concerns as we still had not received the remainder of our orders. She stated that we was sorry as they were short handed and only had one cook. She was very obliging and stated we did not have to pay for our breakfast. My husband and I thanked her and left to eat elsewhere. We understand that they are short staffed as everyone is in the valley, however, communication would have helped and serving the whole breakfast at one time instead of piece meal would have had us return. As of now we have crossed this Denny's off of our list...
Read moreMy husband and I came to eat on Monday. The food was great! Best Patty Melt that I have ever had. However, we were seated very closely by the open kitchen and the waitress station. We could hear every comment and conversation that was made. We heard our server say “oh my god there’s more people coming in, can we just lock the doors” and “I tried so hard to call in today”. Not only that, but another employee came in (who wasn’t in uniform or on the clock), and told the servers about customers harassing her. Also, the staff didn’t even know there was no salmon or chicken strips.
Word of advice: I am a server too, I have been for over 7 years. Before you start taking orders, ask what produce you don’t have before your shift starts. And by the way, customers are how you make your money. You take their money home with you at the end of the night. So, don’t make comments that you want to lock the doors. After I heard that, we wanted to leave. And for the server who was off-duty and was harassed- speak to your supervisor in private about that. That’s a serious matter that my husband and I didn’t need to hear. We couldn’t even hear ourselves talking to each other because we were getting an earful from you.
We did not tip our server and we will not be back. Do...
