Firstly, I must preface that I honestly do not want to give a bad review to a Black Owned business. However, I was very disappointed and will not be returning.
I came with my girlfriends and apparently they were planning to celebrate my birthday as well as my cousinâs birthday today. We were greeted by the hostess, which she called prior to ensure that we were coming (8 minutes before our reservation time) and when my friend was trying to remind her of the birthday arrangements that was pre-arranged, the hostess indicated oh itâs her birthday (speaking/pointing at me) and I said perhaps maybe this was meant to be a surprise. She continued with an âoh well happy birthdayâ with no apology, which became an instant turn off. She proceeded to ask where the remaining party was (I felt like we were children getting scolded) and because parking is a bit of a challenge it was taking a little bit of time. She told us she couldnât seat us until we were all together because the timing starts once we enter the restaurant. So we asked what was the timing and she indicated that there is a 90 minute timeframe. That was fine with us. Within minutes the last 2 of our party arrived. She emphasized the 90 minutes, which I understand but with a new/cute establishment it can be a bit off-putting. Restaurants is not only about the food but the experience as well.
The restaurant is small but the decor is beautiful. Our waitress was okay. I suppose they donât need to be great considering the restaurant charges 20% automatic gratuity for two or more personâs seated at a table. Thatâs a firstâŠâŠThe food was okay.
In any event, to be honest, I feel like the hostess made the experience very poor from the very beginning and thatâs the person that represents your establishment. Iâm trying to understand the high reviews but, it is my opinion thatâs because we want to see Black Owned businesses thrive.
By the way, whatever pre-arrangement that was supposed to take place for my and my cousinâs birthday never happened, so the hostess actually ruined whatever was supposed to take place because this wasnât communicated to the wait staff.
Thank you but, I will take my business elsewhere and support another black owned business...
Read moreSo I wasn't sure if I wanted to make this review, but here we are. February 14 Valentine day My husband and I start early because we have kids. We had a great morning and decided to have brunch at 32North this amazing restaurant we've been hearing about from TikTok.
Walking in we notice it was smaller so sat at the bar due to the wait. The restaurant is decorated nicely can't lie. Music was great so we thought the vibes were good.
Sat down ordered drinks and wings to start us off and put in our brunch order. About 20 minutes into the wait our wings come out and my husband goes to the rest room. When he returned he then let me know the bathroom on the right side was flooded so use the other side. As I returned to the bar I notice it was a lot of water coming from behind the bar. After further investigation the whole other side of the bar was filled with water and now coming under. Mind you we are now 40mins in no food and the restaurant is starting to get an odor.
We start to notice the staff is now moving big yellow buckets around the restaurant to remove the water, and yet no one has said anything to us. After about a hr with no food and seeing what's happening my husband ask for the bill. The bartender then hands my husband a bill for $171 as if we ate our meals, I quickly objected and told him to bring a bill for the 2 drinks and the wings.
Once the bartender realized I saw what was happening he began to get extremely nasty with me, starts to yell "Why am I recording" and "who do I think Iam" ! Excuse me I am a customer giving you my money for a terrible experience at your place of business.
As I do understand unexpected situation can arise but it's the way you handle people. This could have easily been a quick " hey sorry we're experiencing some form of difficulties at the moment give us a minute". But no instead we were pushed off for 50 mins with no food and no...
Read moreI hate to give a black owned business a bad review. My boyfriend and I were really excited to dine here yesterday night for our date night, 6/29, after seeing videos and pictures online. However, the service, food, and ambiance fell incredibly short. We had a reservation for 7:30. When we arrived, there was a lot of confusion about where to go to even be seated. Why is there no host? Especially on a Saturday night. There seemed to be only 2 people working. Not only that, but it was extremely loud in there. For such a small place, why does it need to be so loud? We waited about 15 minutes for a table to be ready. When we were seated, it was a tiny table right next to the dj set where the bass of the music was uncomfortably vibrating our whole bodies and it honestly hurt. It made us extremely anxious and uncomfortable. It was so agonizing, we couldnât even focus on the menu. I even mentioned this to the waitress, Melanie, and she just said âI know, sorry.â Maybe 10 minutes after being seated, the dj set ended as it was 8pm and the music was finally returned to a normal volume for a restaurant. It wouldâve been nice if the waitress had communicated to me that the set would be ending soon as it wouldâve saved the unnecessary anxiety which pushed us to order our food âto goâ and get out of there. Not only did she fail to do that, but I asked for a straw for my water multiple times and couldnât even get that as she tended to other tables ignoring us. We ended up ordering the crĂšme brulee French toast, eggs, bacon, and the honey garlic wings to go. They were all average. The wings were fried too hard, some pieces almost burnt, and everything else just lacked flavor. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. This was an intolerable experience and we still spent money there and I wish...
