Davinci's — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

03/04/20 7 pm, we called in advance to make sure they were open, after a long waiting they finally answered not apologizing for making us waiting for such a long time. I asked if they were open n they say yes. We got there at 7 pm , the place was very empty, there was only one table in the floor n 2 ppl at the bar. We were waiting to be greeted for a host or waiter n finally the lady at the Bar told us to sit wherever we want to sit. We still waiting for more than 10 minutes, we even had enough time for both to go to the bathroom n still no body had come with menus or water. I finally desired went to the bar n requested menus for the table, and with a very bad attitude the lady at the bar said she was going to bring them when she finished talking with the ppl at the bar. When finally she approached us, she didn’t apologized or came in a friendly mood, instead she was very rude n asked in a very bold way “what do you want to drink”.my husband feeling very upset asked her to speak with a manager or supervisor which she said there were not body to talk to. We let her know how bad we were feeling about the whole situation and specially how bad she handled the whole situation and stead of her giving us an apology, she was even more rude n careless n offered us to leave. we’re still in disbelief about what just had happened. We’d been in the business for more than 30 years n we know what a good service is and specially a good customer service is. This is unacceptable n quite frankly reproachable that bc some ppl working with such a negligence n laziness way, can destroy a business in such an ugly way👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿. Although the food is always good in this place, the service was beyond awful this time. My family has been going to this restaurant for years with no issue. We bought a Groupon previous to coming into the restaurant as I’ve done a couple of times in the past few weeks without problems. When we walked into the restaurant, I kindly told the man that we had a Groupon to which he responded nastily, “You know you have to spend it all, right?” Once we sat down and he took our order, he continued to give us nasty looks. Toward the end of the meal, he asked us about the Groupon and redeemed it on my phone. He went to the back to get the check and came out with a lady by his side, presumably the manager. The lady claimed that there was a $60 minimum to the Groupon which was clearly not listed anywhere prior to purchasing or ordering. After they hesitantly applied the Groupon, there was a remaining balance of roughly $2.50 that was still on our check. The waiter kept screaming at us that $2.50 was still on our tab and refused to leave the table to which we had to speak another language to communicate comfortably. Although we might look young, we did not understand their cheating tactics and constant attitude towards us. The food and staff at DaVinci’s were fantastic. We hosted my sister-in-laws baby shower here. The space is a good size, the managers and hostess were very attentive from the booking process to the day of event. The staff made sure everyone was checked on frequently for beverages, refilled bread baskets, helped cut up and served cake/coffee and everything you’d expect and more. They were extremely flexible when our guest count changed, understanding of our needs and made sure the whole party was taken care of. Guests loved everything from caprese salad to chopped honey mustard salad, the chicken meatballs, and fried ravioli apps. A few guests had espresso martinis and said they were delicious. One of our favorites of everything was the classic penne ala vodka, so flavorful, filling but didn’t feel heavy and overwhelming like some other places.
