Guac Shop Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

The first time I ordered here I ordered online. I got a message that my order was going to be ready at 6:15. When I got to Guac Shop at 6:20, not only was my food not ready, but the staff didn't seem to know what was going on with anything. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes for them to prepare my food. There weren't very many customers in the restaurant, either, so I wasn't sure what the hold up was.

As I sat there waiting for my online order to be made, I watched customer after customer walk in through the front door, order their food from the counter, and then leave. Why they couldn't do that with my food I didn't understand. I only ordered two quesadillas. Apparently those who order online are punished for planning ahead.

I was ready to leave a bad review for this place and never come back until I took the food home and ate it. It was really delicious. It was so good that I decided to give the place another chance, but this time I chose NOT to order online and just show up and order at the counter. I was in and out in about 4 minutes. The food was, again, delicious.

Perhaps the day I ordered online was just a fluke, but I won't be taking that chance again. I've come back two times since then and both times I ordered at the counter and both times I was in and out quickly. So my takeaway is that the food here is very good but I won't ever order...

A local spin on the Tex-Mex create-your-own meal craze that has been buzzing about, and they do pretty well!. Prices are comparable to the likes of Chipotle and Moe's but in my experience you got similar quality, more quantity, and more choices to pick from. I went for a salad bowl with chicken and was not disappointed. The thing that attracted me the most though were the slough of sauces they offer, the garlic green sauce was delicious and their hot sauces had great kick to them. Don’t bother ordering online. They didn’t get our order started till we got there to pick up and the pick up time was estimated for 1 hr and 15 min after the order was placed. Add the additional 20min it took once we got there and we could have made our own dinner faster. Then, they didn’t put the sour cream with the quesadillas.
