The food here is great. The portions are great. The owner has poor business practices. I ordered two salads, both with gyro meat but different salads. I also ordered a carrot cake. When I called in to tell him the order was prepared wrong he said that is impossible. At first, I was just gonna get on my flight and chalk it up. But I paid $53 and his insistence on the impossibility of the order being made incorrectly, even after sending him pictures of a salad with the lamb meat, I decided to take it to him personally.
Once he saw it he talked to a few workers and them said "I don't do refunds." My money, your mistake, and you don't do refunds. This man is arrogant. When visiting NY I liked eating there. No more.
This is not about the food. But for this experience and the owners arrogance, I would have eaten there again.
The works were always attentive and accommodating. But when I pay 53 dollars, happily, and your final make it right is: "I don't do refunds" but offer a $15 refund - the cheaper salad I paid for was $18 dollars - as I leave the food and walk out the door is poor service. I will spend $53 dollars at Freeport Diner and receive better service.
Here is the other part you claim was left out. I called you twice, sent you pictures of the salad since you claimed it was not possible to not have the gyro meat, and since you insisted you still couldn't see it. Therefore, I brought the salad back and showed you. You are trying to mitigate your poor business practices by saying the salad was eaten, but this just adds to your disingenuous character. As for the smile? I don't smoke with people that try to rip me off. You know in your heart what happened and that is enough. But here is one for you. If anything I said can be validated by anyone in your past or present. You need to reflect...
Read moreI have been to many many gyro spots, this is by far my favorite. I consider myself picky and know what i like. This place hands down has the best Tzatziki sauce on the planet! correct temperature, thickness, amount. The chicken is cooked to perfection and never ever has tendons, the salad components are fresh, crunchy and meticulously proportioned to perfection, the pita is never burned on the edges "inedible" they serve coke products, which in my opinion is "old school", a better, more costly upgrade that many choose not to go with! Within just a couple visits, i was recognized by the staff and that made me feel even better about my experiences there.
Update 2025: They still got it!! Best Souvlaki on the island!! Just had one for lunch today and yep it...
Read moreBeen going here since I moved from Brooklyn in 2017. If you have ever had greek food from bay ridge or Astoria, this place is on par with anything coming out of those Greek neighborhoods. It’s arguably the best Greek place on the south shore and there are a ton of them (not counting fancy sit down green restaurants like santorini). I prefer them over anything in my town and I’m two towns away, with many Greek options much closer. The chicken gyro is especially excellent. I get from this place probably once every 2 weeks, and I’ve never had anything other than excellent food from this restaurant. I felt compelled to finally review them after seeing the last review they got which seemed ridiculous and not a fair review of...
